Cel Insurance?

Okay so I'm starting to feel like I should get some form of insurance for my cels. It's fast becoming one of the more expensive things I own... But I have no idea how to... Is this something I can just put in a renter's insurance? Other options? What would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Talk to your insurance agent about a rider on you present insurance. Your gallery can be the exibit for what they are insuring.

My insurance company has it fall under a specific category, and my website is basically my "database" that has all the information on the cel, how much I paid for it, etc. Since I upload all the cels I own, it makes keeping track with the insurance company a lot easier. The only problem is if something happens between the time I upload a new cel to a time I get another cel and don't have them uploaded. I actually have that right now, since I still haven't scanned about 15 of my cels yet.
It all varies though, so I would talk to your current insurance company and see what cels would fall under (more than likely it would be collectables). I have renter's insurance, but I pay a little bit more a year because just like you, cels are quickly adding up to a very high amount of money. Do a little research with your company and see what they say.

I've heard good things about collectinsure.com (
http://www.collectinsure.com/), and in fact I was thinking just the other day that I should get some kind of insurance. I asked my regular insurance company about a rider when I got my renter's insurance, but he told me that it would be VERY expensive for the amount I would need to insure.
There's also insurance available from collectors.org (
http://insurance.collectors.org/About/Index.asp?Key=NAC), which I've thought about. The application is a little more complex than collectinsure.com though.

Yeaah you should seriously look into insuring your cels…just in case I come round to nick your Tsuiokuhen stuff!!

Heheh, I don't know much about actually insuring them myself, but it would be best to talk to your insurance company, as it can depend from policy to policy which category artwork and collectibles can fall under. I’m sure someone else here tho can maybe point you towards some good deals in regards to insuring your cels?!! Good luck though!

RoboFlonne – sadly my precious mutt is halfway across the globe.
Ronin – Thank you. But would you really like cels I’ve drooled over many times. They’re rather gooey you know
Jcaliff – I will check those links out. Thanks a lot for the alternates!
SME – Hmmm so some cels fall into different categories? I had always thought it was just one big lump. I’ll see what I can do. I kind of suck at these things…
Glorff – I’ll do that. It just feels odd to be talking to them about cels so I thought it was being done by others using a different insurance agent. Yep the gallery… Need to be good in keeping up with that. *sigh*

No no, your cels all fall together under a certain category, more than likely collectables. Just some insurance companies call it different names so that's what I mean by checking first with your insurance company to see how much they actually cover.
The type of renter's insurance I have actually lets me cover collectables by raising my premium only $15 extra a year. That means instead of only getting probably $10,000 covered just for collectables/misc. I get $75,000 coverage instead. It just varies per company and make sure you read the fine detail.
The links that Jcaliff posted I would check out as well. I've heard a lot of great things about collectinsure.com, and they were going to be my backup company in case my insurance company wasn't going to cover my cels. But instead of paying it with two different companies, I'd suggest seeing what your current insurance covers, then if you aren't satisfied, go the route of a different company like collectinsure.com. You just don't want to pay out the wazoo for insurance, that's all.

lol Nice! I myself have a great dane and a Husky. Many times when people see my great dane they mistake her for a horse

. She is amazing, she is really kind but if she hears any noise that she doesn't like or sees someone she doesn't know she will pounce on them. When she has been excited before her tail broke this glass vase (literally cut it before it hit the ground). Dont want to get on her ugly side

. So I would feel very bad for a person trying to rob my house.

You just have to train them to bite where it hurts if they see someone touching your cels!

Just wondering if you had followed up on this, and what service you decided to go with.

Whatever you chose, I hope it works out great for you!
