Kyoto Animation Reproductions

Post by Blaster »

I recently found out that Kyoto Animation sell reproduction cels from a couple of their anime's.

I was looking at buying one or two, but I was wondering what the quality is like? Are they worth the money? Are they actually hand painted, or is it all machine created?

Has anyone bought any of these before?

Thanks for any help :)

If you do a search for Suzumiya or Haruhi on Rubberslug, you should be able to a gallery or two with the reproductions. Maybe try asking the owner(s)?

Personally, they aren't my cup of tea with their price + post production nature, but if you're a fan of KyoAni's various series, it might be the only way to get artwork. Some of their shot choices are quite pretty. :)

I have no idea. As far as I know, there is no set number...

I've found internet posts about them, but nothing concrete. Some posts even have mis-information, calling these rilezu and such.

You can also PM Baylor here on beta. She's bought from them before. I've considered it myself but never did. I think they're great because I've gotten into post production repros more than sketches. (I like color. :P  ) They're prices are good too.

Best of luck to you! :)

I often wonder if KyoAni went completely paperless sometime ago.

Maybe KyoAni's anime will turn out like Evangelion and we'll see a large quantity of stuff from it eight to ten years from now. 8O :)

Well...I can dream about it anyway. :wow:

Unfortunately, I vote paperless. However, I'll cross my fingers for your sake. :)
