Cels vs the way they are on tv

I have a question about the color cels are, as opposed to the color we see it on tv.

I was watching OutLaw Star the other day and I caught the scene that showed my cel. However, the colors were different in the anime (it was a dark scene).

So my question is, do they just make the cels and then when they are making the episode do they use some sort of special lighting before they add the cel to the film?

Or is my cel just a fake? :P :?

Film and video makers monkey with color all the time! :bubbles

For an interesting look at some of it, this is a fun site:

Although color and lighting alterations are frequently made during filming or in the lab, sometimes the explanation is as simple as the fact that a series went through several digital generations before making it onto your DVD. Really, the only way to know for certain is to compare the cel to the screen cap, line for line and shadow for shadow. Color and lighting variation isn't necessarily that important, but when it comes to the line work, there are always differences between the real thing and a 'fake'. :)

Very pretty new Gene Starwind, btw!

:stupid: What they said! :P :^^:

I just wanted to add one little thing from my own personal experience in this. It could also be how your video settings are on your tv.

Gosh, that was embarrassing! :emb
