Quick question. I have been selling cels for my friend
Rosemary. I sold a cel that the cel and sketch were
not stuck when I received the package. She always has
the cel and sketch together, so after I scan the cel, I
put it back into the bag the way it came. I always list
the items right away, and this particular item sold the
first time around. I packaged the cel up tightly for
shipping, and sent it off to the buyer. She just emailed
and said that the sketch was stuck to the cel now. How
can that happen in such a short period of time?? I am
assuming these shetches have been packaged in the bag
with the cel for quite sometime and never stuck to the cel?
Can packaging a cel tightly for shipping make the sketch
stick to the cel after a couple days in shipping?? That just
seems totally odd to me. Anyone else ever have this happen??

The big question is how stuck is the cel. Heat and pressure can stick a cel, but not badly.

I have been rescanning some older cels and several of them are "attached", but they come right apart if you try and have a little patience.

People can be so picky

It has happened to me a few times in the past. It depends on the destinations weather, at least that is my assumption. Oklahoma has horrid humidity and extreme temperatures in the summer. When I first moved to this house they would leave all packages on the porch, after a few hours of being cooked in the humidity it would sadly happen from time to time. I fixed that little annoyance by demanding the Post Office hold my packages, still scary when someone sends UPS or FedEx since theres no having them hold them. So long story short it can happen.

That is interesting otakusin, after mailing out hudreds of
cels in the past, I have never had anyone tell me that
before. Hrmm.... guess I will order some cel bags and
seperate all of the cels and sketches.

I think most collectors know or just accept that it is not the sellers fault but shipping itself. Same with myself, I knew it was a slew of elements that had caused them to stick. Also, as glorff mentioned they never are severely stuck, worst case was still removable just took a bit more time. It is up to you if you want to spend the extra money on bags. Myself, I would just add not responsible for shipping damage, etc on the auction itself, leaving the cel in the bag, placing both sketch and cel in separate Priority Mail envelopes in the box. I do believe those are acid free, though I could be wrong.

I've had them stick this fast -- it really depends on how hot it is outside, how long shipping took, and what colors of paint were used on the cel. It is regrettable, but it does happen...

Do you think the cel could stick to the priority mail envelope? I've sent sketches in priority envelopes... but I've always placed the cels in cel bags.

Thats why I stated "leaving the cel in the bag" otherwise it would be the same as leaving the sketch in the bag... actually worse.

Ooops! I read where you said the priority envelopes were acid free and immediately, thought they were bagless... gomen!

ive had one thing come to me that got stuck together because of our extremely hot climate (i live in the vegas desert where it get inexcess of 115 in the SHADE!) so they got stuck because of that. not badly where i couldnt slooowwwly pull them apart but just enough to give me a heart attack when i found them stuck together and tried to get them apart.

I've never had this happen to me when I was living in PA... but since I moved to California, yes.

I suppose packages sitting on a hot porch (when temps reach 100+) are the culprit. I can't say a buyer has ever come back to me complaining of a stuck sketch when it wasn't previously, but I usually package them the way someone stated above -- cel (bagged) and sketch (unbagged) inside priority envelope.

If I happen to have a spare (used) cel bag, I sometimes will opt to put the sketch in one of those just to keep any acid from the packaging from affecting the sketch.

I've never had that happen, even with the high temp. in AZ. Heck, the first summer that I was collecting cels, my family went on vacation for a week, and the mailman hid my packages behind some wood in our carport. Nothing stolen, nothing stuck.

I can imagine it could happen, though. They probably aren't stuck too badly yet, though.

I tend to pack mine the same way as Z--cel bagged, sketch unbagged, between two pieces of cardboard taped snuggly together, then placed in a priority box (sometimes flat, sometimes in box shape). The sketches seem to weather the trip fairly well that way.

I've had the reverse happen. I bought a cel that the sketch was stuck to. When I took it out of the cel bag to scan, the sketch popped right off. So I'd say if it did attach itself during transit, it's not attached bad. I'm sure they could be taken apart very carefully.

And you know I live in the deep south - humid as all can be.

My vote here, is yes that has happened to me, but I live in south FL. An easy fix for this is putting the sketch in one of the Teflon Priority envelopes seperate from the cel in a bag that way there is no way they can get stuck together!
