What would you call this? Hanken?

Hi everyone.

I'd love your opinions here. I've recently won two original paintings used for box art on a figure line. They are beautiful gauche paintings.

I was wondering how to classify these? The closest I could think of is that they're hanken mono. What do you think? Can I use that term without them being cel paintings?

Please help :)

I think so...If they where used to create the merchandise, than they fall under those terms....A Hanken can be a cel, sketch or any other type of artwork...or that's the way that makes the most sense ^_^

I'll third that. If the manufacturer had to pay for the right to use the character(s) in the paintings, I don't see why they wouldn't be called hankens. I hope you'll be putting them in your gallery; I'd really like to see them! I believe the term is 'gouache', though. I'm not sure you'd want a gauche painting. ;)

Thanks everyone! That helps a lot :D :D :D

They are my Christmas present so sadly, I can't show them off yet - or even look at them myself :l Sorry.

I'll be swinging from the ceiling when it is time to update, though! :D
