Anime-Beta TNG

I've recently bought some douga/genga pan shots from an anime that has only just finished (roughly 6 months ago) and because they are pan shots, the paper has (obviously) been taped together.

I hear a lot of people saying to get rid of any tape as soon as possible to avoid the tape burn - but in all the instances I've read that - it has refered to older (mostly) cel based series artwork.

Today, there are a lot of sticky tapes out there that don't use as much glue as those in the 'old' days - and I was wondering if these low-sticky tapes are as dangerous?

I did peel a little piece off, and it came off easily and with no damage - but it did leave a slight tacky mark - although nothing as sticky as the older tapes.

If parts of the sketch need to be taped together still (because it's a pan), you could always try using archival tape to replace the tape you peeled off. It's special tape that is supposed to be acid-free and archival-safe.

I think the problem with all other tape is that the sticky part is acidic. You probably want to gently remove as much of the gunk left as you can etc... in any case it was probably a good idea to remove the tape, so yays! I have especially bad tape burns on some older paper-based pieces (20-year-old BGC sketches x.x). I haven't seen tape used on any of the more recent skethes I have (from CG series), but if there was some I would remove it too if it was safe to do so due to not knowing what kind of tape was used. Play it safe lol.

I've got some bad tape burn on a few pieces too (You're under arrest genga) but I've noticed that a lot of the newer stuff seems to have used that 'magic' tape or whatever its called. Same sort of stuff comic shops (here at least anyway) use to bag up comics. I thought it might be a bit safer - but I guess I'll go ahead and remove all the tape - to be on the safe side
