Anime-Beta TNG

I'm currently looking at a cel on YJ that I would love to have. My only problem is that it has no scene/cut numbering in the top right corner or any of the normal holes you would see on top. It is also a vertical pan cel. Is this normal for vertical pans? were the numbers rubbed off? could it be fake?(it looks real to me) Thanks for the help.

Well on my 1st look I would consider it a fan cel.

It sems too perfectly posed being centered taking up almost all of the cel sheet. Most cels leave space since the area filmed is tighter. I don't collect from YYH but all of the pan cels from the series I collect do have cut numbers.

If you know which episode that character appears you might check it to see if that she ever shows up in that exact pose.

Some sequences are notorious for not having registration holes or numbers. This one from Escaflowne comes to mind: http://acdepot.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=212755

I guess it just really depends. If you're comfortable spending that kind of money, not knowing if it is real, then buy it. You might get lucky!



It also looks like there might be some line-fading in her fingernails, which could be a good sign of it being legit. You could try asking the seller for better scans or photos, if your Japanese is any good.

Of course it's hard to go cel by cel on youtube but I see a few minor differences between the youtube image and the cel. it appears the pan on screen does not actually pan from feet to face.
The pan starts with her legs and the center skirt line verticle , It next jumps up higher on the body then it shows the same the same center skirt like as the cel but does not go very far below the skirt. There is movement between the first and second cel as she starts to move hence the center skirt line going from verticle to a slightly diaginal.

You most likely need to go cel by cel on your computer from the dvd to be sure.

I guess I'm a little of the type to err on caution for a lot of the series I collect have been know to have a lot of fakes or fan cels attempted to be sold as real. The Seller does have good feedback , you might ask Rinkya to ask the seller a question to hopefully get a better handle. Here is the link to have them ask a question.

I would guess fan cel if for no other reason than the floor being painted on the cel. I don't recall seeing any cels that are real and are not almost entirely painted.

Hmmm, still havent heard back from the seller, but I keep reviewing the cel and then the episode. ALthough doing it on youtube isnt the best since I dont have the dvd's on me, it seems to match up perfectly and that it was a few of these switched in and out while her legs moved. The shadow beneath her feet almost matches identically when u see her feet but the position her legs are in are when the pan is already passed her feet so I can't be sure on that.

About the cel not being entirely painted yes I do see where your coming from, thanks for the input.

Conclusion- What the heck if it is a fancel the artist is perrty damn good at doing an identical copy so I'll throw down the minimum on it and we'll see what happens and if I win hopefully it's real lol.

Oh and PS: The seller states that it was used in the shooting of the anime so I guess it's real? The seller is always selling YYH cels so I'm going to assume they would know what they are carrying (but you know what they say when you assume) Either way thanks again!
