Terminology help....

Post by Drac of the Sharp Smiles »

Not REALLY cel terminology, but...... In poorly done animation, sometimes characters move incorrectly across a static background. For example, feet walking faster than the character's relative forward movement across a floor, creating an almost moonwalking effect.

I thought there was a term for this type of animation oops, but I can't think of what it is..... Does anyone know the term? Or is there not one and I'm just on my usual crack? ^_^;

I think it's called simply "sliding". I know it happens in some Disney movies as well, but it's during a panning background. Mainly cuz the movement rate the background pans does not match with the cels.
