Backer Boards for Sketches

I was thinking about getting a couple of large sheets of acid-free matboard (about 32"x40"), and having them cut into pieces to be placed behind my genga sketches. My plan is to put them in cel bags with the sketches, then place them in my 11"x14" Itoya for paper.

Is this the way I should be storing my genga? If so, what size pieces would be best to cut the matboard into? I estimate I could get 6-9 pieces from a single mat board depending on size.

I store my non-cel art in boxes. I use 11x14in backing boards from bagsunlimited.com (these, if I remember right: http://bagsunlimited.com/product/3563/b ... ds-11-x-14 ). I put each piece (or set) in an 11x14 mylar bag (also from bagsunlimited) with a backing board and a sheet of MicroChamber paper. The boxes I have are also made of MicroChamber board. Here's a few pictures of my setup (storage cabinet open and closed, and one of the boxes open):

That looks like a great way to store large numbers of sketches, thanks!

Are these the bags you use?

I use the 2mil bags (and cut the flap off): http://bagsunlimited.com/product/5218/p ... ith-1-flap

4mil bags are super thick.

I've gotten a couple of people asking where I buy my boxes. You can find them here:

https://www.lodima.org/archival-materia ... val-boxes/

The boxes in my pictures are the 11x14x3in boxes. The boxes ship pre-made, so shipping costs can be a little high (depending on where you live). However, the quality of these boxes (given that they are made of MicroChamber board) is far higher than what you will find in an art supply (or similar) store, or even on Amazon.
