Everybody's putting forward some amazing artwork, each one meaning something special to the individual. I'm particularly in awe of Graymouser's monsterific cels! Cels that sum up a whole scene and/or theme.

OK, I thought about it and thought about it, and still couldn't decide which cel is the "Holy Grail" of my collection. But, They seem to be drawn to one of these 3 cels:

http://starphoenix.rubberslug.com/galle ... mID=110467
http://starphoenix.rubberslug.com/galle ... mID=110396

The only reason why these are my "Holy Grail" is because I didn't have to rip off someone else's arm and sell it in order to afford to pay for them. My two arms did just fine! :D

*Yes, in case you are wondering, I am typing with my nose.*

Nene, those Priss cels are pretty hot stuff. Lemme know if you decide they are taking up too much room . . .

My own personal Holy Grail would definitely be this cel:

While I have yet to acquire a true "dream cel", these are some cels that I'm incredibly happy to own:

I have never seen another production pan cel from this sequence.

http://stemcels.rubberslug.com/gallery/ ... emID=94905
This cel has quite a history behind it, but I adore it.

http://stemcels.rubberslug.com/gallery/ ... emID=59303
Basically, my entire Miyuki-chan collection. But this cel in particular is a favorite of mine. And I've never seen a better cel of her.

Like most folks, I adore all of the cels in my gallery. So narrowing it down is incredibly hard to do. There are at least a few dozen cels on my site that I would never sell. Ever.

Viewers of my gallery will probably go there for other stuff..... - since there is only one cel under these series headings....
Strangely enough, I was never going to buy lots of cels from these 2 titles. I ever only wanted one or two cels.
As a kid I watched a lot of anime but then did not watch much as a teenager. When I initially got back into it at Uni - 10 years ago, it was Macross Plus that sold me on the whole genre again. Since then, I have always wanted a cel from that anime and not just any cel - specifically a cel of the Sharon Apple in her final incarnation.... I was extremely pleased to get hold of this cel.

And other than Nuriko from FY who is practically a girl anyway, the only cel of a guy in my gallery is Count D from the Petshop.

I think this thread ought to be required reading for newbies, both as an introduction to some awe-inspiring cels in excellent galleries and as a testimony to what is possible in this pursuit. Many of us have the "never thought it would ever come to me" experience, and that should tell the newcomers not to despair but to wait in expectant patience until "that" cel crosses their path.

Very interesting thread!

Lol...ahh kira, you're the best. Truer words have never been spoken.

This really has been one of the best threads to go through, not only for highlighting all the gems found in everyone's galleries, but also (& the best part for me) to read some of the background stories while in process of acquiring them.

Being a dealer myself (ran 2 comic book, baseball card, and pulp magazine stores back in the mid-ninties) I've had the good fortune of not only seeing some of my own acquisition dreams come true, but fulfilling other people's as well (it really is sometimes better to give than to receive). Going to conventions and meeting and talking with the dealers is one of my favorite things to do and I've meet some of the greatest at AX the last few years. Ed Noonchester is such a real joy to talk to. He always has some of the greatest stories to share, whether or not they are anime related. Same with Dave over at Nichibei Anime. He seems to have a true love for the genre and is able to cover the entire gamut when talking shop with his customers. It's always nice to see a professional at work. Which brings me to Rick over at Anime Link. I can't say enough about how great the guy really is. He's dedicated, thoughtful, a tough negotiator and always seems to come through in the end. Most of my "holy grail" cels have come from him. And while they've come at a prime price
(kira :^^:), isn't that usually the way it works?

This one was actually included on the back cover of the domestic release dvd. Thanks to a limited release and J. Cameron buying the title rights, the dvds are kinda hard to find. Hopefully when the live-action movie comes out the anime will see a re-release as well.
I love this cel.

These also came from Rick and I still can't believe I got 'em. 8O

This cel means a lot to me because it really epitomizes his character. It was my 1st cel nab off of ebay and currently hangs over my computer staring at me every day, just to remind me of my place. :P

If you aren't prepared to bleed or mortgage your soul for a "holy grail cel" then its not really a holy grail cel is it?
