History of Anime Chaos

Post by Animechaos »

Hey everyone!

Not 100% cel oriented, but I thought some old school cel collectors might find this a good read. Yes....Anime Chaos is back, but not what it was before.

http://www.animechaos.com

Just click the "About A.C." button to get there. I only have 2 cels in my collection any more and pics of both are up along with some old AC grapchis. Just thought a few of you might get a kick out of it.

Huh. That certainly brings back memories. The fourth and fifth cels I ever bought (one of them a Ryoko cel) came from that old Anime Chaos site. You were "Parrallax" then, even before you were "Division."

In some ways I miss the agony and ecstacy of the site updates: the agony of updating the page every minute or so to see if the new items were being uploaded, or of arriving too late and seeing all the goodies "on hold" for other collectors, or of sweating out the stomach-churning interval between submitting the order and getting the confirmation back. Balanced always by the ecstacy of "The above cels have been placed on hold for you."

Yeah, I think you definitely were the best. The money that passed from my hands through yours (still does) proves it.

So ... what did you think about Midori Days?

Awwwww! *gets dizzy with nostalgia* :D

I'm really excited about the DVD reviews though! I always need opinions or synopses and have no idea where to go (And I know you're not a tool, and therefore may rely on your judgment :P )

So yay! :yay Like a phoenix rising from the ashes to be....something kind of different! :D

Hey Nick,
I vaguely remember there being some talk of selling some of the unclaimed auctions from SMJ through the Anime Chaos domain. Are there any further plans for this? (Even if it wasn't through AC, I still think this would be a pretty neat idea.)

In the interest of AC nostalgia ... this is a post that I glommed off some message board (maybe the old AC Forum?) on March 20, 2002. Even I can't clarify all of the personal allusions, but maybe other old-timers can:
Twas the hour before the update, when all through the room
All the creatures were stirring, even the widdle GuardofDoom
The emails were waiting in the outbox with ready
In hopes that St Nick's update will be wallet-deadly
The children were nestled all snug in their chairs
With visions of bank accounts not restricted by cares
And Channie in his hub, and I on the floor
Had just decided that we needed much more
Then out on the net there arose such a slowdown
I sprang from my website and entered the hoedown (beef!)
Away to the NN window I raced with my mouse
straight way of Chaos, past Usagi's House
The fluorescent not adding to monitor glare
such that I could see every cel there
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear
a ton of cels, I gave quite a cheer
With a young driver, so lively and slick
I knew in a moment, it must be St. Nick
Annoyingly slow the images came
as I clicked through the titles in the right frame
Now Hameln! Now Sakura, Ceres and Tenshi!
On Kenshin! On Noir! on Sailor Senshi!
Top of page six! To the top of page nine!
Now email! email! and make them all mine!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly
I met with an obstacle, and gave out a sigh
Slow network I passed as my fingers flew
with an email full of orders for St. Nick to view
And then in the channel, I heard all the talking
Each little collector festively gawking
I drew my hands back, and was turning around
to type about everything St. Nick had found
He was dressed in a Tshirt and worn out old jeans
and his clothes were all tarnished from mechanic type things
A bundle of cels he had flung on his site
and internet peddler of great cel might
His eyes how they twinkled from digicam pics
showing us his cels, his car and all of his kicks
His comments were droll and often quite l33t
managing the orders was quite a feat
A pan of Ryoko he held in his hands
safely away from all drooling fans
He had a big collection of pretty chicks
that could be found in many fanfics
He was tall and thin, a right young adult
but I had to giggle at some of his faults
with a wink of emoticon and a 'no prob'
I knew I had not made a complete social fob
He spoke not a word, but typed quite a bit
then filled all the orders and got on with it
A laying his finger on the enter key
he soon got back to collectors like me
He sprang to his car and met up with friends
and away they all flew away from his sends
but I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight
"Enjoy your cels! I'm partying tonight!"
whew...

I don't know how they convinced me to post this ^^;;

So ... what did you think about Midori Days?
I thought it was a great little series. Just from the box description of a girl attached to a guys hand....well...had comic appeal. :)
I vaguely remember there being some talk of selling some of the unclaimed auctions from SMJ through the Anime Chaos domain.
I actually have to go through and clear out some more auctions. Probably have 30 cels or more to resell. I actually started working on AC just to get used to web design again because I planned to revamp SMJ. The last one I did was actually SMJ and that was about 2 years ago. Then the ideas in my brain started churnin' and decided to go with the video thing.

The new SMJ will likely have a re-sale portion built in. But I decided to put off retooling SMJ for the time being. Plus we got a new search engine in the works I want to incorporate but can't yet since its not finished.

What a collection! BTW, are those PVC statues on the shelf or models? Just curious since I love assembling garage kits myself.
