Correction Layers

Post by minigt »

This topic should probably go in the general section, however as it is common to DBZ cels, I was wondering if people out there do their own correction layers. I've had a crack at a few by hand and they are getting better with practice.

Just interested to know what other collectors do....

Look forward to hearing from you guys

I don't do them, but my sister does. I had a cel that was so badly line faded you couldn't even tell where some of the detailed lines were drawn. When we found a screencap of the cel we had to use that as a reference. I don't think it's a DB only issue. :P

But I think it's a great way to preserve the original trace lines by making a new cel layer with the trace line...since it covers over the original (and it's better quality), I think it may actually help to keep what's left of the original. If this idea holds true, I was going to see if she could do correction layers for all the cels, just to keep protected the original. I do keep cels in cel books and in the dark, but you can't have too much protection, can you? ;)

I'm a little drunk right now so my comments will be brief.

We do our own correction layers directly on the cels. We buy to keep and
never plan to sell, so we feel it's acceptable. But if you're anal about it,
just make a separate layer for the correction.

SM cels are among the worst with line fade, always have to fix them.

Thanks.....Correction layers are acetate (just like the cel) and people place it over the actual cel and trace out the lines to make it look like there are no faded lines. Hope that helped :)

Oh I see :) Wouldn't you get the same effect if you photocopied an acetate with the sketch of the cel? (in case you have it?) And what do you use to draw the lines? any special kind of pen?

i heard that people photocopy it, but i havent tried it....i tried to print it on my printer...but it didnt turn out to be good...more like this :hurt: .....as for the pens, there are special pens to draw with. I think it was called a quill pen. There are others too (which i dont know the name) i used something other than quill. It was good but if someone would rub on it, the ink would come off X|
