Well I was on MSN and found this link to this video that i found very interesting.

Discuss the rise of popularity for art and how people are really dishing out the cash.. Collecting cels and comic art doesn't even come close to these crazy prices...

If I had four hundred million US dollars handy, I wouldn't be buying "regular" artwork such as that. I think I would fall back on other collectibles I had interest in but didn't have a high enough ratio of interest to cost to buy much or any of them.

I'd buy more anime production artwork, but I wouldn't turn into a long-term Squasher (TM). I would buy a little Western animation artwork, but my interest in Western animation is less than one tenth my interest in anime artwork.

I'd go back to buying autographed classic Hollywoood collectibles such as fountain pen black and white sepia photographs. I prefer collecting black and white photographs to color because color photographs age far too easily. I'd collect a few vintage movie posters since I'd have plenty of room to store them in my much large house that I would buy.

I'd buy old autographed letters too such as famous inventor's writing about their inventions or civil war soldiers writing about the battles they just got through fighting. I'd buy some original comic book art and I'd buy some comic books going back to the World War II era and earlier (say the earlier Superman comics).

But I have much less interest in other collectibles. I've never been into antiques. I like looking at classic collectible cars, but I'd never want to own them even if I could afford people to take care of them for me. I think I'm much more into the "connection-to" aspect of collecting than the "owning" for enjoyment part.

Maybe I'd buy bunch of large section polished crystalized meteorites, but that's about all I think. :P
