I think this thread must be creating all kinds of good karma in the collecting world. It's been nearly two years since a cel from Grimm Masterpiece Theater (aka "Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics") came up FA. And yes ........ I looked every week .......... sometimes twice ......... or three times .......... and finally ......... last week on YJ .........

Hey, come along and join the fun.
It's a time for fairy tales.

Mine is Chipmunk Adventure and Gay Purr-ee. Both only have one other person on RS that collects them. I highly recommend Gay Purr-ee, especially if you like cats or are a fan of Chuck Jones. Its just a charming, beautifully made film and all the music for it was written by the same team that did the music for the Wizard of OZ. I think it would appeal to a lot of people here on AB. You can watch it on YouTube.

It looks like the only production art I have that doesn't appear elsewhere on Rubberslug is Aria. However, Metheus has some hanken sketches on his personal gallery and Doug owns some settei. Also, since my own gallery is "closed", who knows what else doesn't appear. I used to have more series without visible peers on RS, but gradually more artwork has appeared or more people have started collecting those series.

Although, if I ever get my Twin Spica roughs up, they'll be even more lonely than my Aria sketches.

That's pretty lonely.

It's sad when someone is looking for artwork from a show was around quite a bit in the past, but no longer is. It's like looking for an animal that no one has seen for a decade. It can be a lonely search. :O

Some studios shredded their artwork as a matter of policy. I understand there were copyright/ownership issues in some cases. So there are some series that never did have released artwork, or the artwork that did show up on the market was actually purloined from the studio by an unscrupulous employee and sold under the counter to a jobber. Haibane Renmei is one such series that I'd kill to get art for, but, alas, it's extremely uncommon and thus costly. (And really good assassin's weapons are out of my budget as well... :bawl )

I remember one time I was trying to make a personal rating scale of how often I ran across sketches from a show. The scale would have gone something like this.

On a 1 to 8 scale:

1 - Very Common - seen more than 50 times
2 - Common ------- seen 31 to 50 times
3 -------------------- seen 21 to 30 times
4 -------------------- seen 11 to 20 times
5 -------------------- seen 6 to 10 times
6 -------------------- seen 2 to 5 times
7 - Scarce ---------- seen only one time
8 - Never Seen Yet

But nothing ever became of it. It was to be an absolute scale not an availability scale, but it was only to be based off what I ran across. Obviously if I never ran across them myself then I have no idea if they even existed.

One Hit Wonders are pretty sad I must say. Some shows are like that. :l

Maybe someone had a bunch of artwork and sold them... Maybe they needed the money.

Once those are gone... That's it.... Image

You've been collecting longer then I have, but it always seems like that.

Some of those shows came out some time before I was looking for them properly on YJ so I'd have no idea if they ever showed up there or not. Some of those titles I've seen artwork from before once or twice, but never after that. Maybe I'm still at the wrong places. Who knows?

You know....originally I was only searching for prod artwork on YJ under the "cel" category (2000 to 2004). It was only after someone pointed out sketch categories in posts (Dec 2004) that I began searching that way. Even then, I could have searched more thoroughly than I did.

No wonder I rarely ever seen any paper appearances in 2004. :puzzled :bwall

So really, it was the people who were searching properly prior to Dec 2004 that seen some of the most interesting stuff.

I need a Time Machine. :D
