The Future of Prod Artwork Collecting

Post by Keropi »

I couldn't find the previous threads we had here discussing the future of procution artwork collecting. I remember having at least two of them here.

I got a kick out of reading these old Animanga threads discussing the future of cel collecting:
(BEWARE of Trojan popups while using an unrestricted setting of Internet Explorer browser):

Future of Cels? Sept 2002 thread:
http://www.eu.animanga.com/db/celsbook/ ... var=tnb=30

The Future.... Sept 2003 thread:
http://www.eu.animanga.com/db/celsbook/ ... var=tnb=30

The Future....is Now. 8O :D

I like that Miyazaki's new film Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea is entirely hand-drawn animation: 170,000 separate images—a record for a Studio Ghibli film, according to Wikipedia, and many of these drawn by the man himself. Certainly CGI animation will become a standard but not "the" standard for future films.
