Full Moon wo sagashite really is an interesting story, and at one time it was riding just above Neon Genesis Evangelion on the ANN "best anime of all time" list. The characters really are interesting, and as I've never seen original art from it, I'm fascinated with the OP genga copies you've found. I love the full face of Takuto with his cat ears, but because of the holiday season, I picked this one:
