:emb I just enjoy this thread! Actually, I was lurking last night, hoping to be 9,999, but animeobsessed beat me there. (She's another pillar of this group who helped me tremendously -- as did others -- on my ethnography. More about this in a week or so.) And then I had two chances to sneak in and be 10,000, but I admit that Gonzai deserved the honor richly and fairly.
Let me raise my cup in a toast to the future! :cheers :cheers :cheers
Me too! :buds: :flower :hippy

Actually, I wanted to highlight the sketches in the thumbnail, both of which bear the stamp of Shouko Ikeda, a terrific animator who was the overall animation director for Haruhi Suzumiya and a number of other important series. The layout (which looks to be original) adds the stamp of approval from episode director Tatsuya Ishihara (AIR, Kanon, Clannad, Haruhi Suzumiya, etc. etc.). Those pieces of paper connect us directly to some of the major artists who have made anime what it is.

That's a funny, memorable instant, and having the whole set-up, cels, sketches, and background, make it a wonderful treasure.

Its funny - today I went back and read the first page of posts, and I
had almost forgot that I joined this board 8 years ago under the user
name of pudge. I have been gonzai for so long now, it was just a
little surprising. :crackup

As one of my longest running friends on this board - Animeobsessed was
the perfect choice for me to follow to 10,000. We have done alot together
over the years, including some wonderful cons with lots of memories (who
could forget the first trip - when a certain someone was not suppose to be
able to speak English) and a great trip to Japan. Definitely one of my
closest friends on this board. :cheers

Ok, so now for Sensei - I agree that it was fitting for you to be 10,001.
You are definately a long time member that has contributed much to
this board. I see only good things in the future for beta - including all
of your wisdom.

Oh, and also this great shot from Rozen Maiden.

Having all the grandkids that I do, this shot is just fitting for
the environment of my house. :)

Yay! I'm super excited that I get to pick from your gallery, Gonzai! You know how much I love it. *hugs*

You have so many gorgeous pieces from both Hikaru no Go and Samurai 7 that I love and visit often. But, this time, I had to pick this amazing pan genga from Vampire Knight:

Kaname Pan

It's so perfect. The expression ... the "tough guy" stance ... and the coat. *swoons*

Here here to Anime Beta! :cheers

I am quite surprised this post has had so many responses after all this time!

I have been a collector for 13 years now (an AB board member for almost 8 years), and have been very privileged to meet some of you guys in person. I totally wanted to come by at Anime Expo to meet the rest of the friends, but we had to move to New York just 2 days before! :bawl So, if there are any events in the NYC or if anyone passing through, give me a holler and we can meet up! :-D
Joe, Maria, miss you guys much!!

Now, in reference to this post

Definitely my favorite Ichigo look. Something about that sexy long hair! :-D

Wow Sensei, I didn't realize what I had! Thank you so much for pointing it out to me and giving me the details about how important those marks are from those certain animators. I love learning new things about my collection. ^_^

As for the cels:

I absolutely love this Sailor Moon one! Usagi and Luna are too adorable with their huge matching eyes. :) Insanely Cute!

Beautiful sketch of Kikyo, full of motion and emotion. I love the expression in her eyes.

EDIT: I forgot to include a HUGE thanks to you, AO, for the kind words on my collection. I appreciate it very much. *hugs*

The outfit plus the backgroud make this one even if you did not know the character.
