1) I really don't lurk dealer updates anymore...honest. Just too broke. But, I indulged in a bit of browsing during a writing break.
2) I have a really small wishlist anymore...honest. See #1.
3) I usually presume that the "good-gawd-I-can't-believe-the-exact-moment-I'm-looking-for-actually-showed-up-somewhere" cel will be priced at something outrageous.
4) I've been away from this in any serious way for 5 years...which means I hardly recognize half the series titles anymore.

Imagine my surprise when I saw one of my "No Way! It can't be!" cels, and it was $25.00!?

But...of course...the dreaded "On Hold" was already posted...

At moments like that, you can only chuckle and enjoy the fact that it proves that the miraculous collector moments ARE still possible.

Yes, I remember watching one of my "No way!" wishlists recede into the upper limits of bidding on eBay several years back. I'd actually considered bidding some extravagant sum, but was saved when someone else bid two hundred dollars more than the amount I'd rashly intended to bid. The auction went up and up from there, and at the end I figured that I'd never had the discretionary funds to get a wishlist item of that quality.

Then six months later a dealer put one up for sale for about a tenth of the price its sequence mate had sold for on eBay.

HAH! "On hold" indeed ... "on hold" for ME! I'm still smiling. Ten years later!

Be patient. I'm sure your wishlist moment will come, if not for this moment, then for something of equal value.

Sometimes it is a relief to be saved from oneself. The whole reason I have a "collection" is because I wasn't able to buy the one (yes, as in single) cel I had wanted to buy myself way back once upon a time. Had I succeeded, I might only have one. And it's from a series that I don't even own any artwork from now. *shrug*
