Shhh! Don't ruin it for me! ;)

Yeah, I don't think it really should be optional, but if it's not, then I'm probably going to have to find something to cut from my list of submissions.

LOL, you know, when I was typing my post, I was thinking the same thing. "Why am I mentioning this? I'll have an extra submission this way..." :dlook It's always so hard trying to decide what to submit, every year it's like Sophie's Choice.

Are we still having a layout category?

Sorry to ask. I was keeping up with the thread, but lost track a few days ago, and can't seem to locate the answer. :emb

I had two main concerns with this catagory. The first is that proving authenticity as to whether or not a settei is an original rather than a very good nth copy would be difficult. It's much easier to authenticate a cel or a sketch than a clean copy of a settei. Because of a lack of ability to autenticate, the catagory is on a different tier.

The second is that, if there are people who have hentai settei, that they be allowed to enter that in the catagory as well.

The Layout catagory was nixed, but instead, you can submit layouts to all applicable catagories. I think that that gives layout owners a bit more freedom, rather than telling them that they only get to submit to one catagory.

I don't think I saw this in the rules....but I take a very long deciding what to enter in what.....
So do you have to submit all your items at once? or at different times? or will that be worked out when the site is up??

Ah, Beta Awards! I'm going to enter this year, since I missed it last year :)

Still a while until we can actually submit and there's also the question of width / height of the images.

Well, I'll start preparing for it anyway. I've been having very little time to update the gallery with new stuff, but I'll try to find some extra time for this event :)

So you understand. Good. The Loebner Prize is an annual Turing Test sponsored by New York philanthropist Hugh Loebner. Dr. Wallace and ALICE won The Loebner Prize in 2000. The ALICE program was ranked "most human computer" by the panel of judges.

You will enter all your items at once, during the posted entry submission period. In previous years, we've done it via email, but this year, I'm making it such that entries are uploaded directly to the site. Most folks have probably uploaded files to image hosting sites like photobucket via their web browser before, so it's going to be something like that, except totally tailored to the awards. The reason for doing it this way is so that we can alleviate some burden on the organizers by having the site do the majority of the image handling for us. More information will be posted soon, when the site is a bit closer to being ready ;). I'd guess that the site will be ready in the next week or so.

I apologize for my absence from this thread for the past 2 days -- I've been out of town ;).

If there are no objections -- I've proposed a maximum width of 600 pixels for large pan cel images, and 500 for standard size cels. I'd really like to get this nailed down, so if anyone has any comments/suggestions/gripes... please make them known. To enforce this rule, I'm considering making the site check the aspect ratio of your images and deciding the max width based on that. Either that, or it will be up to cutiebunny and I to check that the width rule is being respected.

I thought I would bring this up as I've already had a PM regarding it:

As in previous years, the awards have made every attempt to take into account that not everyone will have computer access during the submission time frame. This year's awards will do the same.

However...

In the interest of keeping things fair and avoiding possible disputes, Zero and I have agreed to impose the following restriction on all items submitted prior to the submission timeframe.

Any early submissions by participants who, for whatever reason, choose to submit prior to the official submission time frame will be considered to be the last submitted.

What we mean is this:

Let's say Person A will be out of the country during the official submission weekend. They want to submit their entries early and contact either Zero or I to make arrangements. Person A submits a Repro Cel G in with their entries.

During the official submission period, Person B submits Repro Cel G along with their submissions. Even though Person A submitted their entries before Person B did, Person B will be allowed to use Repro Cel G as their entry instead of Person A. Even though Person A submitted the artwork first, because they opted for an early submission due to personal reasons, they are penalized by receiving the lowest priority.

If, for whatever reason, you would like to submit your artwork early, please PM Zerospace or Cutiebunny for more information. However, please be aware that the above will apply, and please consider that when you select your artwork submissions.

Question:

I thought the Death/Dying category was going to include Injured originally?

But there's a difference between death/dying and injured...Like a broke leg, no hand or something....Depending on how the person is reacting to the injury you could put it under another category...Like:
Sad if they look sad.....
Rage if they are angry that they are injured and so forth....
or i would think....

Okay...since I'll have to enter them all together I'll just start picking now ^_^

I don't see why you can't still submit it to the catagory. I mean, if a character has a nasty flesh wound, unless you've seen the anime, you're not going to know whether or not the character is in the process of dying. I would think that our voters would look more at the artwork rather than nitpick over whether or not a character died.

I have to second this sentiment. ;)
