Could you announce the winners now and then give them their awards later? Waiting 11+ days from the final tally seems excessive, but maybe that is just my perspective...cutiebunny wrote:Right now, we're shooting for some time around the 15th of the month. It'll depend on when the awards are completed.

As much as I'd love to show off the winners, one of the organizers has requested that we wait until mid-month to reveal the winners. Unfortunately, with so many participants and so few volunteers for this project, we have to work with what we have.
If an 8(ish) day wait period is excessive, perhaps more people could volunteer next time so that this project could have a quicker turnaround.

We understand completely, and we appreciate the efforts of everyone who volunteered to help make the summer sketch awards a reality. ^__^cutiebunny wrote:As much as I'd love to show off the winners, one of the organizers has requested that we wait until mid-month to reveal the winners. Congratulations Team Beta. You have won NOTHING!
(points above) Sorry for the Team America reference. I've been dying to use it.
So, here's the skinny. Our award graphics have magically disappeared. The person designing the awards had computer problems and it looks like the graphics have been lost to cyberspace. In short, you've won nothing!
Fortunately, we at Project A-ko HQ have been working hard to make sure that you do get a little graphic for your entries. So, the awards graphics will be coming and will hopefully be done in the next few days.
That's all for now.

Zero has saved the day and was able to make our award graphics. The winners for each category have been posted, along with each corresponding award.
Thank you for all the pms I've received for award graphic help. I'm sure that the organizers for the cel awards would love to have your help!
Speaking of which....
Enjoy and congrats to everyone who won an award! Thanks to everyone who voted and contributed to this project for making the sketch awards a success ~

Yay! The awards are finally done
. My apologies to everyone for the wait on the winners announcement(s). It was partially my fault, since I was out of town for a little over a week and had very little Internet access during that time
.
A BIG congrats to all the winners (and there were a LOT of them!) -- and an even bigger thanks to everyone who participated (both entering and voting)
.
NOTE: this year, you may download your awards as a single zipped file containing all of your personalized trophy images (woo!).

Wow
This is the first time I've placed in one of these contests. Many thanks to everyone who supported my entries, and many congratulations to all the winners.
Not to mention appreciation to cutiebunny, zerospace, and all the underheralded volunteers who worked on this contest and handled the design of the website and the voting process, which I thought was very smoothly done.
Golly, I can't say how many times I suggested that the academic organization on whose executive board I served for a time do something similar. Alas, they're still getting used to 1980s technology, and so all we got was a mailing list. If they'd just hire some of you keen, committed cyberbrains, a lot could be done to move academia into the last decade of the 20th century.
And ... one final reflection ... I think one of the real winners was Studio Pierrot, especially the amazing artists who did the Saiyuki series. I'm enjoying seeing the other Goku, Sanzo, and Hakkai winners.
