Three to four years for me, I think. I bought my first cels from Anime Taro's first half-off sale.

I first seriously started collecting cels in November of 2003. I was purchasing a Christmas present for Weyrlady from Anime Museum's 1/2 Off sale. Because of the shipping costs, I decided to get some stuff for myself as well. I blame this entire addiction on her. If they ever check me into some place like the Betty Ford Clinic for my acetate addiction, I'm totally making her pay the fees! ^_^

It's just a little over a year now for me. Summer 2003.
I was searching ebay for 'Tamahome' and ran into a cel.
"What's this?" I asked myself, and the quest just went from there!
After about half a year of buying cels, I finally decided to find out what exactly this Rubberslug thing was, and then a few months after that, looked into this Beta thing, and here I am! And y'all are stuck with me!
Life has not been the same since.
not that that's a BAD thing...

I bought my first cel three and a half years ago with the thought of decorating my game room with them (never did) and the rest is a downward spiral. I guess I should be thankful that I did not start back in the seventies when I discovered fansubs

Here's my story:
I seen Anime Wink ads for anime cels in comic book magazines back in 1995 or earlier, but I didn't have a way to drive out to where he was located. I didn't know what an anime convention was either so that method was out.
Then on ?December 17, 1996 I got a WebTV unit so I had web access. The first thing I did was get something called "fansubs". From there I was checking out online anime stores which lead me to anime cel stores. Then I looked up "anime cels" and found the Anime Cels Webring (a total of forty two cel gallery and cel seller sites) and Chad Kawakami's page. After about five weeks of hearing "I'm sorry it's sold", I was able to get my first cel April 11, 1997.
But I didn't buy cels on a regular basis until January 6, 1998 so that's the date I give for when I started collecting.

It will be aroudn 4 and half years for me. Not so long compared to some...but long enough, I'd think! My first purchase was from Museum for some DBZ genga. I remember thinking to myself...."geesh! $20 for some paper sketches...that seems expensive".
If only I'd known what I'd turn into!!! MWAHAHAHA!!!!
