Yeah, this is true ... on both counts. I have gotten sets before that, although rather large, contained only one "sketch", for all intents and purposes. You know ... one really awesome character image and then a billion mouths and eyes or whatever. But, I didn't pay nearly the same amount for those as I did for the Gunlock one I wrote about in my post. Most of those were in the $10 - $20 range. If I had gotten the Gunlock set and had only one sketch and the rest filler pages of eyes or hair or whatever, I probably would've sat down on the floor and cried. /sob But, the set was awesome, so, instead, I was like this ---> :vict

So nice when things work out that way, isn't it?

And, yes, the shipping can be very painful. Yipes!!

I really love FMA, at least from what I've seen of it so far. But, considering how much I like Saiyuki artwork ... I will probably not lay out the money for FMA sketches. So, all you FMA collectors won't have any competition from me any time soon. I'll just visit all your galleries and drool over your excellent collections, instead. /no1

Now, if we could just convince everyone else . . . :evil2

I've tried to only buy my FMA sketches directly from dealers because the competition out there is really jacking up the prices. Never thought I'd spend over $200 on a single sketch let alone a set but I've been eyeing a few over $400 so . . . :hurt: What was it you said? My wallet . . . it bleeds! :P
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

jenn-b made me realize i have paid over 200 for a sketch. now if your adding those two sketch prices together, then it'd be over 400. now after i get this coming paycheck i'll be paying probably over 100 dollars maybe close to 200 for a whole bunch of genga sets.

Hmm...I haven't spent much on a sketch set yet. I think the most I ever paid was $70 for a four-sketch set. It consisted of two "okay" sketches and two partial sketches.

Nothing amazing, but I haven't seen any other sketches from that show yet. :shrug

I didn't click the $400-$599...*avoiding eye contact* :P

The second series of Yugioh is CG...No cels. Though the first series was made with cels but finding some are really hard. I have grown fond of sketches so I like buying them ^_^

Most of my collection is of sketches anyway so I better like sketches :P

Speaking of FMA, did you guys see the gorgeous FMA hanken sketches Museum just uploaded? I'm not sure when he added them, but, when I logged in there last night, they showed up on the "latest uploads" page. Wow! Now, those are things of beauty --- pricey, but drool-worthy!

Amen to that, Masako! Man, oh man ... but wow! Kind of made me glad, in a twisted sort of way, that I am too hooked on Saiyuki to toss that kind of cash at another CG series.

But ... if you ever figure out how to harvest that money tree, drop me a PM --- LOL.

And Star-Phoenix ... if you managed to snag one of those beauties, I hope you will post an update thread so that I can visit your gallery and pay homage at the altar of Roy Mustang. :bow

Yay! The order has been confirmed and the sketch is mine! :elephant

Now, this reminds me. Can anyone read kanji? The guy with the muscles (Iron Major Brigade????? Can't remember his name for the life of me) is saying some kind of phrase. This is like the ultimate Roy Mustang sketch! I am drooling buckets! :drool

I can't read kanji per se, but I can look it up in my handy Kanji & Kana book! :D

Here's what I found:

男(otoko) の(no) 価値(kachi)! or "Men of value!"

Translating is fun!! :D :D

Awesome, awesome snag, star!! :bow (And the muscle-y dude's name is Armstrong. )

Pay huge sums of money for a piece of paper? Who me? *tries to look innocent* Heh...I guess I cannot pull if off. But that's what happens when you collect Saiyuki OP sets!

the two single op saiyuki sketches i had were both over 200. then we have to include shipping and handling and handling fee.
