Misc. section or One cel sections?

Even though I might have only one cel of a series, I still give it its own section rather than moving it to misc section. I feel that the cel is being under appreciated by putting it in misc. section.

It's not that big a deal to me either way. It can be frustrating to weed
through a misc section to see what's there, but I hate to see "Oh, they
have my favorite rare series!" only to click on it and see one cel. I had
mine in a misc section before, but after a similar thread here before, the
vast majority seemed to prefer splitting them out, so I decided to do that
to pander to the masses. It does make it easier if you ever grow your one
hit wonders as you don't have to move them.

I chose giving them their own sections. Some of the single cels I have cost me WELL OVER the cost of multiple cels in one series. Since some of the cels are so expensive, I can usually only afford just one of a particular character. It would be a shame to throw them all into 1 category.

So what do you guys do with "unknown cels"? Do they get tossed into a Misc. section?

Me, I have an "omake" section, which I plan on making pages for their very own.

Even with a misc section I have about 60 different series and sections listed on the front page of my gallery. I have another 20+ series listed in the Misc page. If I made a page and directory for each of those, I'd be looking at 80+ links on my front page. It's just too much. As it is, I'm trying to think of ways to cut down the number of links without making the whole page too confusing. I thought about using drop-down menus or separating by genre or something, but I want to keep the page browser-friendly and not have the cels buried too deep under the main page.

To see the odds 'n sods in a miscellaneous section is best IMO. As a visitor I love to browse through these sections and it keeps the main gallery page tidier- all those text links are unsightly.
I understand the arguments about giving each series due credit with its own section but when you have too many misc cels, it can get silly. I feel cheated if I go to a section to find only 1 image- especially if the owner doesn't know much about the series and doesn't back up the image with some thoughtful and interesting text.
Speaking from my experience of having a 'One-Offs' gallery, I don't often know much about these particular characters/anime so I feel it's best to keep them huddled together. They're not LESS important than other cels but they form a strong section when they're combined.

Displaying ever title in it's own gallery is good for a retailer's site but not necessarily a private display site where I'd imagine people prefer to spend time looking around.

EDIT: Just thought of another dilemma based on Uende's, with regard to RS galleries.
Is it preferable to display sequences of art as individual items within a gallery OR include up to 2 images as supporting material alongside one main entry?

I like to browse misc. sections, because it's fun to look at different series at the same time.
My personal preference is if there is more then one cel of a series then I make a new section, for just one cel I don't feel like making a new seperate section in my Gallery. I do have two cels that I gave their own sections, but that's due to that i'm very satiesfied with the cel I own of it, plus I don't mind finding more cels of that particular series.

I prefer the "one cel" sections. My back-up being...knowing me...I'll probably add to it one of these days so it won't always be a one cel section....and plus if I used a Misc. section instead, I'd only have about five titles listed

on RS i have each show individually listed

on my webpage i have OLS, YYH, and MISC. Misc is then separated by show.... other than American Art, I have 3 different shows in that section... but they are still united, so i dont mind it.

I like my misc section, some unknown, some freebies, some etc's. I usually only create seperate section when I have at least 2 cels from a series.

I'm going to be redoing the site this winter and am toying with the idea of breaking things down further such as a misc. and a new itmes section grouped, maybe a list of main series grouped, and then maybe a grouping of series with 4 or less items. At a glance you'd be able to tell what my main areas of collecting interest are and what are secondary. I'm also thinking maybe a section for non-anime related art. It's still in the "floating around in my head stage" though.

I like writing things about the series I collect . . . if I don't know anything, I'll just make something up. So I vote for the one-hit wonders. All of you who hate clinking on a series to find only one cel, never fear, for I have a cel count up on my home page.

Though I just counted and realized that I had 16 sections. Three of which I actively collect from. The others . . . well, I said, "Ooooh, shiny! Must make it mine!"

I'm all about not having misc sections. I can't stand them and frequently avoid them. The only reason I have a misc section is because it's a group of cels I don't know where they're from. YUP! You guessed it! The freebie zone! Hey, maybe I should call it that instead.

Anyway, I don't have as much time as I'd like to browse people's galleries. So I like to go in knowing what kind of artwork I'm going to be looking at than possibly running into some naked woman having sex with someone. (Yes, it has happened. )

I research shows by searching for their artwork. If they're in a misc section, they don't show up on searches. But whatever you choose to do is completely your decision and right and I'll still stalk your Esca and Weiss galleries.

Good question,

I personally have both in my gallery, cels which I think others would be interested in or are just damn good looking cels I give their own section.

Otherwise just random or average cels just get chucked into the miscellaneous section!

On the other hand I usually skip miscellaneous galleries while browsing other peoples galleries.
