My only bad experience has been recently. I sent the seller payment in July, and it's still not arrived. She has not responded to ANY of my emails (which all basically ask if she needs my address, if something's up, if she could just let me know when she ships, etc.). It's ridiculous - if you're going to take this long, at least tell me so I won't worry and freak out that I've been scammed :x I did not buy through Ebay, so unless I payed through Paypal by Credit Card (and I'm honestly not sure) I'm screwed with getting a refund.

As an Ebay seller, it only takes me about 3 days (or less) to a week to send an item. 2 weeks was the very most, as the item belonged to my sister and it was up to her to ship it (finally I gave up and had to ship it myself - the buyer was NOT pleased). I think taking longer than that is unreasonable and unfair, and if you're trying to start up a business on Ebay, unprofessional.

None of my bad experiences have made me think about giving up this hobby.

But, several things have happened over the past year that have made me want to give up being active in the community. Which is why I am now mostly in lurker mode. It's just not worth it.

I can't say I've had a bad experience cel-wise, but over a year ago, I won an InuYasha TCG card that cost me a pretty penny. I paid the amount and waited happily by to get it.

Never showed up.

I emailed the guy. Come to find out, he was "not a registered user" on eBay anymore, but when I searched for another card, this "new" seller had almost the exact same username as before, with some letters rearranged. That was MY card!!!

Well, like a doofus, I never filed, but a couple of weeks later, I had a deposit of X amount put back into my account. So either PayPal found out what had happened or the guy felt guilty, or something.

I can understand your frustration, logorzat. It's like you said, at least be courteous enough to email the buyer and let them know why there's a holdup. I've had to do that a few times myself, as I've been sick or something else.

On a side note, I bought some buttons on eBay a while ago and never got my package. I left negative feedback and then checked their store. I guess the store owner "died" and her daughter did not have the password to access the account and ship anything out. Uh huh... Even the message in the store heading had a bunch of "...", showing that she was on her deathbed typing the thing up, while she coughed a few times.

"I'm sorry...I don't have much longer to live...I love you all that have supported me...I will not get around to shipping your items...farewell!..."

It's like with most things in life - although their are always a few bad apples, it'll be these people that will ruin it for everyone else.

The key thing is that sellers and buyers need to have an open line of communication. Both parties need to be aware of any problems or delays in either payment, shippment or anything else that could occur. Sometimes things happen - in my case, I work three varying schedules(morning, afternoon and night shifts) which can greatly reduce my ability to mail. While I try to let buyers know ahead of time as to what my mail schedule is like, there are always a few dunderheads that feel that if they pay on Saturday, the item should be sent that Saturday or, by the latest, Sunday. I remember around Christmas last year I had some guy buy some gashapon figures(auction ended on Dec. 10) from me and fail to pay until Dec. 23....and then he complainned that he didn't receive them before Christmas!

My experiences within the cel community have been relatively pleasant - the only problems I've ever had are with Yahoo Japan users who fail to send out the items and some ocassional problems with the deputy services I use. But, the problems aren't enough for me to stop using the service entirely. I understand that volume that the deputies deal with and that, ocassionally, these things will happen.

Once I waited 4 months for a $300+ cel to arrive from France to California. The seller kept putting me off. Eventually, I saw the exact same cel for sale on another dealer's site. I emailed the second dealer who confirmed that he got it from the French seller, but that he had sold it to another collector. About a month after that, I saw it for sale on ebay. I was so disgusted at that point, I was no longer interested in the cel. After many emails and turning the original seller's information to the Internet Crime complaint center http://www.ic3.gov/ and the United States Post office for mail fraud (payment sent by mail) I never received a penny back.

That last case made me unwilling to wait a prolonged period of time no matter what the reason. The last time I bought a cel and didn't see it for months, I requested my money back. They did send the money back right away, and they were probably honest. Its just that I did not want to go through the same thing again.

Overall, people have been very honest and fair and I never considered quitting collecting over a few bad experiences.

Yeah, anyway, I don't even try to buy from other collectors. I've only bought maybe 1 or 2 cels/drawings from other collectors in the past 5 years. It's just easier to buy from shops/deputy services. I don't sell any of my cels, so I haven't had to worry about buyer behavior. ;) Mainly, I just felt the need to quote Monty Python.

Well, I did say that I did not have many bad experiences, but now i have

I've been bidding on a pretty item, and then...it seems like the seller is trying to raise the price with another account :x I hope not! But they are from the same area and everything looks FishyX100!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are many things that point to the seller and I don't believe in coincidences, but it points to evilness!!!!!!! GrRrrr!!!
I LOVE  the item, but i don't want to pay that much because of being tricked!! What do you guys think????
-I don't want to name the seller, but I can provide Details via a pm...so you can watch out if you bid on this person's auctions....

I spoke too soon earlier, but this has me pissed off :x

I hope none of you go through this :?

Interesting. I don't know too many people from the same area and everything looks FishyX100.

You are right Cloud...it is Fishy! I'd put the details, but I wonder if the seller will find me here? 8O

If you're talking about an eBay auction, and you think it's one user with two accounts, just report it. I don't have much confidence in their dedication to controlling questionable activity, but at least they claim to take shill bidding very seriously.

In the post offices over here they installed these machines where you ship stuff yourself :D
Yeah, I have those too but I don't use them for shipping cels. I ship those flat and I don't want to run the risk of them bending in the bins. So you may have to wait an extra day but it might come to you in better shape. Plus, they don't do international. I know, I've tried.

Forunately, I have not had any situations where sellers did not send my cels in a timely manner. I have had one seller misrepresent an item and I had to return the item and file a dispute with my credit card. but, that was an isolated incident, which I am never going to deal with again.

I have been slowing down from buying lately mainly because my interest changed to more expensive items, and I have no money at the moment. but, I never stopped collecting because of bad experience with sellers.
