IRL, I don't know anyone else that collects cels. The IRL people here think I'm nuts for doing it. :P

But online here I have the greatest respect for all collectors. I have a tendancy to bid b/c "well i think it would be neat in my collection" and if I out bid someone on it who really wanted it (say just b/c they couldn't be online @ the auctions end) I'd feel bad. and I would be pissed if I was out bid on a Cel that I really really wanted as well... espically since I work 12hrs, and that makes it hard to be online when alot of auctions end.

I dunno, espically if they were a friend, work something out. A cel isn't really worth loosing a friend over.

Or of course you could let them win it, then if they need to sell it for some reason, you'd prolly get it cheaper then if you and them got in a bidding war over it.

EDIT REASON: I'm a dumbass X|

Baylor wrote:To reiterate what AO said, you oftentimes have to be cutthroat in the IY cel collecting world. There are many of us that have the same wishlist cel, and sorry, if one person can pay more than you, that's life. I'm not saying that I don't try to work things out, but if there is a wishlist out there, and me and my bestest cel bud want it, may the person with deeper pockets win.

To me that has always been part of the cel collecting game. I've won and I've lost, but we're all still friends in the end.
hear hear!

Just like AO and Baylor said, IY can be very cutthroat. Sometimes your wishlist is the same as your best cel buds. That perfect A1 key end cel can only go to one person. In that case pudge sums it up best, he/she with the deepest pockets wins. :P And if it's me, please expect some major rubbing in. :nya:

I picked work something out simply because I pm/email those going after the cel to tell them how serious I am. After that warning, watchout! Because my heart says screw 'em.

I'd like to think I can be reasonable, and at times I can be. I've backed off on a cel or two because I knew some one wanted it more. But if it's a cel I REALLY want you are going to have to outbid me pure and simple :evil2

There is only one person that I would back off a cel for and we always seem to work something out. For everyone else that I may "talk" to once in awhile its always been whoever has the deepest pockets rule.

I agree with the deepest pockets rule. None of my immediate friends (that live near me) collect cels. So, I don't have to worry about anyone hunting me down. :P

I have been threatened and cursed by someone though. I didn't even know the guy (seriously), but apparently, I won the auction on Ebay by sniping him, and I received a real hateful, nasty e-mail. But, oh well! :D

Though, if you want to trade a Bradberry cel for the Bantaro... :D
In your DREAMS!! You will have to off me first. :D and no, that was not an invitation.

ooo... but if you did so in the next week or two I wouldn't have to finish that paper that's making me so berserk!!

But what does my attitude towards friends have to do with how I treat you,
my useless servant? Now, be quiet and bring my tea.

i'd let my friend know that i'm going all out. but also theres no anger between us if one or the other wins.

plus also look at it this way, if by some small chance you dont win you can always drool over it in there gallery and tell then when they sell it you want.

I have backed off a couple of times on cels/sketches that I wanted for friends, but only because I knew they loved that character more than me.

However, at this current time, I now just go with whoever has the deepest pockets, as Pudge as stated
