I don’t know. I look for a lot of things.

I like:
portraits,
Image

images where characters are framed by either an action they’re performing or something else in the scene,
Image

and scenes where characters are striking a pose;
Image

But I think I’m mostly drawn to nicely posed action shots with foreshortened perspective.

i like polar opposites too:

there's no gray area in my gallery---it goes one way or the other--just like my personality. :)

There are three things I look for when cel hunting -

1) Colors. The color sequencing has to be visually pleasing and harmonic. No orange and blue suited ninjas please(just teasing, Naruto fans :D )

2) Movement. Life is always in movement. Whether it is the graceful act of a transformtion or a nervous twitch, cels that convey movement are, in my opinion, more interesting, than many cels that do not.

3) Emotions, with special interest on characters who have reached their limit and continue to fight.

This has been a very interesting thread to read :D :D :D

At first I thought, nah I don't look for anything in particular image wise, but after quickly scanning my collection I have noticed some trends.

I've definately got a thing for monotone, it was my only reason for buying this cel

http://nadia.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv ... mID=146443

I also love limited palets (four or less colour groups)

I love these cels for that reason

http://nadia.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv ... mID=191792

http://nadia.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv ... mID=143881

I also like full lengh images were we get to see the character's full costume. I get board of just portrait cels

I absolutely love cels where you can place the scene right away. When I can own an essence of an entire scene in just one cel - then I am truely thrilled.

I think one of my most favourite examples of this is my only Nakago cel -
and since showing off hands seems to be a running theme for this thread, it's all just another reason. XD

I'm w/ GuyvarIII

I'm more of a portrait shot collector.

I tend to lke full shots or waist up and for the cel frame to
be filled up at least 60%
/no1

As for what portrait, it depends on what character is my favorite from the series.
I usually always ocllect the same characters or from favorite scenes

What can I say? I'm predictable!

What I prefer in a cel? (I'll try to explaine with my bad english):

I like a cel where we can see the character in close-up (head and shoulders) with a lot of emotion in the face or attitude (especialy in the eyes). The background is not as important for me.
Eyes for me are the most important in a cel.

I show you some of favorit cel of my collection:

It's a little hard to say.

I like cels that express emotion/reactions, especially touching, such as a hug. I also seem to like "slice of life" (or, in other words, something that looks casual everyday, like lounging on the couch, eating, or talking on the phone). Things "at an angle" are also pulling to me, but I only have a few of those.

Cuteness is also a BIG factor. I seem to be drawn to those the most - and I don't even mean to a lot of the time, it just happens /swt

Some examples:

I like a variety of things. My gallery is heavily weighted towards portrait cels but I like a couple of other features a lot too.

The first would be small characters with big backgrounds. I really like the mood that is created. Two of my favorites are a lonely Azalyn and a creepy Kanoe.

Another favorite feature is monochrome (or monochrome-ish) cels; especially in cooller colors such as blue, green or violet.

I love the look of beauty in evil

I also go for the cels that remind me of how it felt to see that moment for the first time.

That was a very smooth response.
