Hanken or OP

What do you guys like more, hanken sketches or OP sketches?

I would have to say hankens because there are soo many different types and they are drawn in a unique way

Doh, guess I got carried away, just noticed you said sketches. I'll leave my post but that does change the topic a bit. Still think it depends on the item in question though.

Every item is different. Seen some fairly bad examples of both through the years. Animxais recently posted a bunch for sale, some great stuff, and some large pricetags aswell. But lets note some items that no ones deemed worth mentioning:

Well, I don't own either one, but I'm one of the few that has said OP so far. I love cel collecting because I love seeing the cel up on the screen. I know hankens are used for playing cards, calendars, etc., but it doesn't do as much for me.

It would have to depend upon the image. I've seen some pretty unappealing hanken cels out there. Between those, and say, an OP cel from a series I love...well, I'd pick the OP.

It's hard to choose. As a die- hard CLAMP fan, I would LOVE to own any and all OP cels from Rayearth and X/1999. The art from the OP can easily match a hanken's quality. But alas, OP cels are near impossible to find, let alone a hanken!

Well if its in regards to a hanken/OP CEL.. I would have to
say I'd rather have a hanken cel.

Hankens are really nice, and unlike a opening where you can find a sequence buddy of, hankens are more one-of-a-kind.

As far as sketches go, when it comes to CG series (like Naruto), I'd rather have a nice OP sketch set

than a hanken because those seem to run more frequent unlike OP sketches which are scarce.

i said hanken sketches, cuz they are realy unique.
but OP sketches are really cool too, especially since they are usually pretty well know images and are near hanken quality!

I agree. I don't have much interest in hankens, but I adore OP and END cels. Hankes usually look too posed to me, and I love collecting cels because they are the production art used in the actual making of the series. Hankens just can't affect me emotionally the way productiion cels can.

I don't collect sketches, but I figured the same logic can apply to cels as well as sketches. Hope I didn't diverge from the point of the thread too much.

I couldn't agree more with these two lovely ladies. Some Hankens are indeed cool (and unique), but they just aren't the same (for me) as the actual art used in the production...so I think I too will opt for Opening cels/sketches.

At this point, I've chosen Hanken.
Because, greedy lil' bastard that I am, I already own OPs, but no Hankens.

I don't have OP nor Hanken....

But I saw a couple nice hanken cels and OP cels before. So this is tough choice.....

But I would really love to have Hanken Kenshin cels at this moment

I prefer the Op/End rather than the Hanken, normally I'm familar with the the op/end, whereas I'm not too familar with the Hanken (and while this isn't always the case, most of the time, for me anyway, it is :hitting:

). Plus, in a lot of my favorites the Op/End are some of my favorite shots, sooooooo....while there are some beautiful hanken out there, I'd still probably choose a favorite Opening shot over it

I chose hanken... as of now I already own a couple of OP cels and sketches & I love them, but one thing I don't own is a hanken... yet.... LOL. My other half, 4D, has a Tenchi Muyo hanken that is absolutely stunning--the quality of it just doesn't even compare to most of our cels.

I chose OP because, through watching the anime, I see the OPs more than the hankens. Most of the hankens I've seen I didn't know what they were used for exactly, and I really like the shots that are shown in an OP or End. I guess it's a question as to which I'm more familiar with or which I know about more, but I choose OP/END.

I'd rather have hanken ny time over Opening sketches. The images are normally larger (both of my FMA group hankens are the size of posters), and the quality is superior to that of MOST production sketches, even openings.
'Also, GENERALLY, there are less hanken cels than opening cels out there for a particlar series. That, and they are made by the top artists.
