Mylar vs. regular bags - for CELS
Well, the Mylar bags for sketches movement is picking up, although I seem to get most of them completely open at the end, although comic archivists routinely state the Mylar bags should be closed, to limit air contact.
My question is, has anyone tried Mylar bags, or heard about using them, with painted cels? Any benefits or drawbacks (other than cost)? I do like the additional stiffness of the Mylar bags. They seem much less likely to do that wrinkly thing (and I've noticed that even the current cel bags are made of firmer plastic than the bags I get on 80's cels from Japan, that are really thin!) and, at the least, would seem to be a good candidate for using between cel layers.

I need around 200 Cel bags... They don't have to be resealable just the regular standard size... Do anyone here sell any? Please let me know. Thanks!!

Contact Heiko - they're the ones who provide most of the cel bags around - sealable, unsealed, whatever. They have a facility in Hawaii and ship from there.

The Cel Bags I use now are Heiko... They say that they are resealable.
But when I unseal a bag, it's really a big sticky mess and I usually just throw that bag away.
So now I prefer one that isn't self sticky!

Cel Storage-Clear plastic behind cels- in polyproplylene bag
I didn't know where to post this so- here it goes-
Is it okay to put a clear plastic transparency behind a cel? Are there any adverse effects? I generally put both the transparency and cel into a cel bag. Then it all goes into an Itoya binder.

Did you try that?

i mean i've emailed them and they never got back with me.

It's -6 hours in the summer from the East Coast. -3 hours in the summer from the West Coast. (-5/-2 in the winter)hobbywhelmed wrote:Remember there's a time difference - what is it from the East Coast to Hawaii - 8 hours or something? So if you call early in the day, they'll all be asleep!
I emailed them for prices, but mean to call to order, to use my card.
I bought the
T 24.5 - 30 [self sticking (when you remove the strip) normal sized $10.50]
T 28 - 43 [self sticking Oversized $15.50]
S 25 - 40 [non-sticky slightly larger than the normal sized one (but they didn't have the same size with out the sticky at the time) it was less than $10 but the price tag isn't there any more so I don't know the exact price.]

I drive there too
you can go to their website and email them - just let them know what size you are looking for and they can hook you up!

I tried a cel with mylar and was amazed at how quickly it adhered. I was able to remove the bag from the cel, but if I left it on much longer...
I usually buy my bags from Intense Anime on eBay. They come in lots of sizes and some are resealable. They are slightly thicker than the ones I used to get from Japan years ago.
