Your first wish

Post by Princess Nadia »

I'm not usually confident with starting threads but yesterday my cel collection had a very special addition /kis /kis /kis

http://nadia.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv ... mID=174183

This was my very first memory of seeing a film and wishing I had that cel. I was too young too understand cel collecting at seven years old and I never imagened that at 26 I'd own the storyboard for that very sequence.

It wasn't what got me into cel collecting. That happened much latter in life when I discovered anime and anime cels :D :D :D I never actively searched for this piece, as I grew up other series became my favourites (NADIA  ) and I had forgotten all about my very first ever wish list. Untill it cropped up in a gallery for sale. To add to the sweetness - it was cheapish 8)

So I'm wondering - do you remember your first wish list? That moment when you first longed for a particular piece of art? And have you ever found it?

Sorry if this is a dull topic, I was just excited about my new art  whic, for once, isn't a Nadia! :OMG

Hi Princess Nadia! The topic isn't dull at all. :) My first wish list item was a Miyu opening cel, which I was fortunate to obtain several years later. It's easy to spot in my gallery since I made it the banner. ;)

Congratulations on your finding your first wish list item!

Oh, wow Nadia! Those are some really neat storyboards! 8O They're all original, right? That's a rare thing to see in storyboards . . . at least, in Japanese animation. Maybe American studios don't make a ton of copies. :)

My first wish? Hmmmm . . . hard to say. I guess I just always wanted a nice Dilandau cel. The one I'd want above all others is the shot of him smiling up at Jajuka in the graveyard scen (it's on my wishlist :D ) but I doubt I'll ever see it, let alone own it. :l Guess I'm not leaving this hobby anytime soon. :P

Awww, very cute movie and it's cool that you managed to snag something like that :D Congrats!

Your memory is a lot better than mine, the first wishlist item I can remeber was a cel of Trunks from DBZ, the funny thing being I don't collect from DBZ at all :hitting:

my first wishlist was and episode 25 Hilda from outlaw Star. I would have taken any from Gene's dream sequence... but I got one form the exact part of the sequence. She still makes me very happy today. ^_^

My first wishlist cel was the scene in the Sailor Moon S movie where Usagi and Mamoru are kissing with the sun setting in the background. I always thought it would be an impossible cel to get but just last week I was to buy that cel and I am eagerly awaiting for it to arrive.

The very first wishlist cel I ever got was from Escaflowne, the episode was Operation Golden Rule of Love. It's where Folken and Eriya are about to kiss.

Hmm...it's hard to remember that far back. :sweatdrop

My first wishlist (late 1997- early 1998) went something like this:

1. Ai from Video Girl Ai - I ended up getting a few of those.

2. Ifurita from El Hazard First OVA - I got an ugly one from the second OVA. This series was too competitive at the time to get the ones I wanted. :D Then I lost interest.

3. Macross Plus - Never got one. Hardly anything was out there and then I lost interest in it compared to collecting from other shows.

4. Deedlit from Record of Lodoss War - Never got one. Expensive. 8O I eventually fell to earth on these. :)

5. Please Save My Earth - Never got one. It's no fun trying for these. I only get frustrated. Collecting from less mainstream shows is more enjoyable and fun. :)

6. Natsumi from Birdy the Mighty - I got one from Anime Wink's table at Anime Expo 1998. I had great fun at that convention. :l

7. Ami from DNA^2 - I got two. One was from Mangaya. Remember those guys? :^^:

8. Akane from Mahou Tsukai Tai OVA - I got one eventually. Nothing too fancy.

Boy this is taking me down memory lane. This was back when I had a lot of spare money on hand. lol :hurt:

*is old, so has to scuffle around in the dust bunnies that clutter my memories*

I didn't really give any thought to what actually went into making anime, until after I'd seen Fushigi Yugi, and was trolling ebay for anything Tamahome.
I stumbled onto my first cel, and it's been love at first sight!
These are what???
How awesome is that!?!

The first cel I really wanted, but knew I'd never find or be able to afford, was any nice pre-decision Fuma from X.
I knew cels from that show were incredibly expensive, and I'd never get that much money together.
But less than a year into my collecting (and right around Christmas time to boot!) I saw one in the Rubberslug shop for sale that at the time was a good price for me. I still had to ask permission to spend that much (and I laugh now at the meagre price by my standards today), but I was able to get it, and have been overjoyed with it ever since.
Yes, I still have it. :D And over a year and a half later, it still brings me warm fuzzies whenever I look at it. (Thanks Rheytarian!!!!! :friends:)

Anything to do with Sailor Moon! When I first saw Sailor Moon all those years ago I knew I wanted a cel.

The one I longed for the most was perhaps the scene where Sailor Moon becomes the Moon princess for the first time. That always sends a tingle down my spine. And the bit where he is laying in her lap. That whole scene gets to me. I have not got any cels from this scene though :(

Moon Dreams has a cel of her becoming the princess *drools*

One day I will have one in my hands. But until then I have found many other wishlist cels from scenes that make me tingle.

My first wishlist cel was of Angel Serenity from Sailor Moon ep. 200. I thought I would never be able to find one; especially so early on in my collecting days. But when it popped up on YHJ I nearly died. I wanted it so much that I paid the BIN price. Strangely enough it ws 1st deputy purchase as well; what a way to start using a deputy. I was shocked when I got the invoice but when it arrived in the mail all doubt went away. This is one that will never leave my collection

I honestly don't remember. It might've been from Da! Da! Da!, as it was one of the very few series I was collecting when I started.

My first wishlist cel was Neflite...ANY Neflite. I didn't think I'd ever find one, so I wasn't picky. Silly me.

The first scene I ever pointed at and said "I WANT that cel - that one RIGHT there" was from BGC2040. And, uh, I'd kind of forgotten that I already had it. (How embarrassing. This was one of the incidents that's led me to start thinning the cel collection.)
