How do you display your framed cels?

The other topic about framing your cels inspired me to post this thread. I always love to see how other people frame their cels... do you match the color of matts with the colors of the cel, do you frame the sketch too? And so on... so here's my two currently framed cels. ^_^ Miaka from FY and then Gokudo from... Gokudo ;)

I ended up framing this because its a rather large sketch. I'm waiting till I purchase some UV protective glass for the frame before I hang it up. Frame and matting wise... I believe a frame and matting board should not distract away from the image. It is merely there to compliment it and not to become the focus, since the image should shine on it's own. Seeing as how this was a sketch, I tried to go for neutral colors, much like I would for a B/W photograph. Matt color is silver btw. It was purchased at Hobby Lobby. Frame was purchased at Walmart.

Please note that the image of the sketch has been a bit altered... I brought out the colors a bit more intensely since I was getting slight glare from the glass. At the time, I did not have a polarizing filter that fit the lens I was using.

The sketch is not trimmed. I did not physically attach it to the window matt or mount it in any which way.

I usually match the matting to the cel. I have never framed both the sketch and the cel together in the same frame - mainly due to the size and the weight. When multiple layer cels are framed, they can get quite heavy. I also tend to frame only the oversized and pan cels that don't fit into my cel books.

The only thing that I have done that is a little different was with a couple of my vertical pan Slayer cels. The backgrounds were much longer than the cels. I did not want to trim the backgrounds, nor did I want the free edge of the cel (with its holes and layer markings) visible in the finished product. I had a strip of matting cover the edge of the cel and then had the background continue on in a window above the cel. I then had the framers make a fan cel of the characters' names for the upper window. Its easier to see than to describe. I have an old web page with photographs from a similar thread last year.

Ah, that's so cool! I would have never thought of doing something like that. ^_^ I have a similar setup with an overlarge background and smaller cel. Such a neat idea!

This was with my flash on, it was very hard to capture and you can hardly tell there is detailing on the wooden frame, double matting in black and inner brown. There's no glass as I'm too worried about two things, it magnifying the light, and it falling and shredding it to pieces. Hope you like, the picture isn't near the quality of that actual appearance but should update soon when digi-cam works again.

That last one is a great shot from Seikai no Senki (or maybe the Seikai no Senki 2). Both are sequels of the Seikai no Monshou (Crest of the stars) series.

I think getting the matting right is key to how the cel will end up looking, and the frame. I thought about framing the sketch as well as the cel, like graymouser said it gets heavy and when you get them proffessionaly framed it gets expensive.

I am scared to frame any of my actual production cels. The only framed items are my Eclair fan cel (I did the framing/matting myself, since I'm cheap, using a $10 frame from Target and some spray painted cardboard) and my CLAMP shikishi (professionally done, but I think the expense was worth it). My Ghibli repro from Spirited Away is also framed, but that was done by the studio and I personally think it is very bland and ugly.

I took my sketch watermark image (basically my gallery url) and pasted that layer on top and trimmed till it only fit over the sketch portion. Then I turned it transparent enough to just barely be visible. I was hoping not to distract too much, yet still protect it.
