What do settai copies usually sell for?

Post by Ryouko »

I am really out of the loop when it comes to settai copies and their prices. While cleaning out the last of my stuff from my parent's house, I found a stash of rare character FY settais (like human Suzaku, the Genbu seishi, etc) I had bought many, many years ago. But I have no idea what they would possibly go for.

Any ideas or advice?

well here in the us, probably 10 to 20 dollars. if your lucky, maybe more.

you might get more if you sell them on yahoo japan.

i could be wrong this is just my assumption.

Price ranges for Settai vary quiet a bit. It depends on the series and then where they being sold.

FY Settai I haven't seen any myself for long time, but I haven't been actively collecting FY for a few years.
Settai being sold on Mandarake seem to go for the most and then Yahoo JP. On personal sites and other auction sites they don't seem to sell that well as on Mandarake and YJP.
It depends on what is in the set and how many sheets are in the set, too.

Are yours still the larger sized ones or those printed on standard printing paper? There is also a difference in those, since those larger ones are most likely from the studio. With standard sized ones I would be more careful.

I personally wont buy any settai nowadays (unless I exactly know where they came from) due to my experience receiving copies from a settai BOOK that sold in Japan and I didn't know until I also bought the booklet that officially was released. They were being sold as settai from studio which made me believe copies from the studio. They looked just like other settai I own with one exception they had some different kind of marks on them.
Now I own the settai I bought for a high price and the thick book that was officiallly released and sold in Japan for fans. :( The settai cost me a lot while the thick settai booklet was around $30 or so. Yes, learned a harsh lesson that way.

Anyway, you might want to look at Yahoo JP and Mandarake for a little white to get an idea how much the settai go for.

The ones I have are the larger sized ones. I don't think a settai book was printed for FY, but I can't be 100% positive. I know what you're talking about though, I have one of those for Fullmetal Alchemist.

I will take a gander at Mandarake, that's a good idea. :) Is it possible for non-Japan residents to sell through them?

The larger ones are the older studio copies. So they are good ^_^ I like those better then those newer standard size copies where you can't tell if they actual production made copies or by somebody else.

Yeah it's always good to check out sites like Mandarake and YJP to see what things go for. I do that to keep up with prices so I know what things go for when I am buying (making offers).
On Yahoo JP you can sell if you are with celga. Not sure about their fee's but I do know they let you sell on Yahoo Japan. I don't know if any of the other deputies do that so you might want to check the sites out and see if any others do it.
Mandarake I don't know if that is possible. Sorry! :(

They usually go for more if there are artists notes or shading on them. My X set has "combat" damage sketched on some characters so that it appears that someone was figuring out what their character was going to look like when they were beat up. Made it more interesting to me, so I paid more. 8)
