shipping internationally?

Post by tenzink »

Hey folks, so I am wondering if anyone here is located in canada or has received cels from here. I've been checking post office rates and holy god is it ever expensive to send items outside of Canada/USA! I bit the bullet last week and paid substantially out of my own pocket for how much more it was on a package and want to avoid that in the future (I'm generous but come on ^^)

Anyone have any recommendations? I haven't found EMS here, UPS/fedex is expensive too. Seems the cheapest options are $30-ish small packet air to Europe and thats not with tracking/insurance, but at least its by air. Spent the last hour checking out options and they are all morbidly high so, what do you folks use to ship internationally, even if you're in the states? I'd like to give people an option with tracking at the least, and without gouging them on the cost.

Thanks :)

The few times I had to mail internationally, I used Global Priority Mail (Or I guess they call it Priority International now) through USPS. And it ranges from $15 to $25. Only 1 time I shipped through just air mail because the buyer insisted and I told him that I will have nothing to do with lost, stolen, or damaged packages. Thankfully it worked out.

Express mail is $$ >_<

When we ship overseas (and we do it a LOT), we use either Small Packet Air or Small Packet Ground. These are really the only two economical options.

Anything over 500 grams goes by S. P. Ground, as S. P. Air is just way too expensive past that point. X|

For cels and sketches, we've never had to go with S. P. Ground... even with a package of 12 cels with sketches. And, if we're remembering correctly, we've never had to pay more than $20.

As far as tracking goes, we have yet to find any affordable options, so we don't offer it.

Maybe you should rethink how you're packaging stuff? Lighten things up? :?

I could try finding lighter options that is definitely where the cost comes in I think. I will see about getting lighter but sturdier cardboard. Really too bad though, I had an awesome taro-boardesque setup. Thanks for the information guys :)
