Animaxis going out of business?

Post by sletia »

So I got an e-mail saying their site is shutting down - what happens to their stock? Will we finally get a shot at the overpriced hankens?

I remember a while ago (memory is fuzzy, maybe someone can help me with the exactly-when) that they had a sale and a lot of those hankens were up to half off. They look beautiful and there's one of the Vampire Miyu ones I would love to have, though I'm more attracted to owning something that was used in the actual animation. (Not to mention, I wouldn't spend $6000+ on a single cel, but that's just me. ^_^)

They were still insanely overpriced, even at half off. I remember that sale.

They weren't kidding about closing right at the end of the month. The site's already down (and I was in the middle of going through their cel inventory too) I always meant to pick up a couple of their El Hazard cels too. /sob

Wow I'm really surprised they didn't announce
their intentions much earlier.. say during X-mas rush!
They could have had a sale and gotten rid of a bulk
of their inventory. o_O
Seems rather hasty how they closed.
One day here, next day gone with just a few days notice. :?
oh well! :P

Actually, their hanken sales touted up to 90% off. I was able to finally get the hanken I had been eyeing at 90% off at what turned out to be their last hanken sale in early 2010. In past sales, it was usually 60% - 75% off and I would just pray they would lower the price at the next sale. Even at 90% it was still expensive, but still "doable". Most of their hankens were between 50% - 75% off and were still way overpriced.

The bubble economy really screwed up their prices and expectations and then the current global recession finally did them in.
