Show Me, Halloween!
Show Me, Halloween!
Happy Halloween!
After listening to the ED from Yami Shibai, and a couple of tracks from the Blood Reign/Curse of the Undead Yoma soundtrack ( Chi no Dachi and the counting song), I’m in the holiday mood.
In honor of the day, show me: all manner of malicious monstrosities, creepy and crawly creatures, wicked witches, melodramatic maniacs, vile vampires, ghastly ghouls, spooky spirits, costumed characters, and anything else relating to today.
Here’s Ozaki, transformed into a vicious monster from Urotsukidoji:

It’s still early for responses.
But, in the meantime, check this out:
Zombies!
Original hand-drawn settei from Blood Reign/Curse Of The Undead Yoma.

Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Not anime, I concede, but a vintage American postcard showing a divination ritual that was popular a century ago. Rather witchy in its way, and I love the black cat with the Elizabethan ruff.
Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Sensei, that’s a nice postcard!
The Hallowe’en spelling with a contraction mark is great, and the clock striking the witching hour is a nice small detail.
Here’s a spooky looking graveyard from Tekkaman Blade 2:

Re: Show Me, Halloween!
OK, here's anime Hallowe'en ["All Hallowes evening," in full, for tomorrow is "All Hallowes day," aka "All Saints' Day" aka "Día de Muertos"].
BTW, can anyone identify the series? I adopted this poor anonymous cel years ago and can only assume that it comes from an 80s-era adaptation of a Western fairy tale or similar story.
Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Sensei, I don’t recognize that cel. But, to me, it looks very reminiscent of those Saban Grimm’s Fairy Tales …
Although, the only thing I can remember clearly about them is that they had a lot of the same English dubbed voices as Robotech.
Here’s a Japanese ghoul, the Azuki Bean Washer (Original hand-drawn Settei from Requiem from the Darkness):

Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Thank you, Sensei!
It seems without you, my “show me” thread would have been completely an “I show you” thread.
But, I’ve still got about four hours of Hallowe’en left … so, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
However, continuing in the “I show you” vein, here’s a cel of the evil god Drago from Jushin Liger:

Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Well, one more for that long, long, spooky road. Hōsenki from Ep. 155 of Inuyasha.
Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Thank you, Sensei.
It’s still All Hallow’s Evening (for about five minutes) for the West Coast, even though it’s already All Saints Day for the East Coast.
Here’s one last Hallowe’en cel. Empress Zara, and Ken Taiga from Jushin Liger:

Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Omg!!!! Are YOU the one who won those from Mandarake?? I was SO wishing I had the funds to bid on that set. ^_^ What a beautiful set. I adore that film. ^_^GuyvarIII wrote:It’s still early for responses.

Re: Show Me, Halloween!
Yeah, I got the set on Mandarake a couple years ago.
Previous to that auction, I was able to acquire one sheet of original settei, which was included with a set of photocopies.
And, I have a few cels …
But, it’s hard to find production art from Blood Reign.
Here are a couple of other original, hand-drawn sheets from the Mandarake set:
Kotone
Marou merged with Majumi
