Eyes Wide Shut

Post by KinoLRB »

As we all know, images featuring characters with open eyes are usually more desirable than images where the eyes are closed. It's usually the case that open-eyed shots convey more expression. However, if drawn with just the right precision, I've found that closed eyes can convey just as much (if not more) emotion than open ones.

So take this opportunity to share your best cel (or sketch) of a close-eyed character! :)

Here's mine:

Lol we were going on about this very topic in the Slack chat like a month or so ago. :P I have several cels with closed eyes. Most of the time, eyes open does make the art more desirable, but there are a lot of instances where closed eyes do make for a great picture.

If I had to narrow it down to one, it might be this one:

I love Inuyasha's grumpy face and Kagome's cute face. I also have the sequence mate for this cel, and Inuyasha's eyes are wide open. The one with his eyes closed seems to be more popular too.

Nice idea for a thread, but I'm not sure I can possibly narrow down to a single favorite. ^_^; Even if I exclude sleeping and sick characters, though some still really convey quite a bit, I still get the following:

Here's one of mine from one of the last episodes of Gargoyles :-) (please excuse the fact that the scan isn't the best)

Its been a while since I have done a "show me"thread. I have quite a few closed-eye cels, and I can't make up my mind.

Here are a few of them.

It's hard narrowing down my favorite eyes shut cels since I have so many good ones that I really like. So, I'll share a couple from the two main series I collect.
