Another way to look at things
I was just reading another thread here and started thinking about how much people spend on cels. I wondered how much we all have spent as compared to what our income is.
My complete collection is only about one months income, so it is not a big impact on my life, although I generally shop for deals and let a lot of amazing cels go by because I will not spend the money.
How about the rest of you.

It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean how much do we spend per year as the amount of our yearly income or do you mean the amount of our yearly income that our entire cel collection cost?
If you mean the former, then I've averaged about 1.8 to 2.7 months pay per year on cels.
If you mean the later then (since I don't make much money), I've spent 1 year 5 months pay on my complete cel collection.

I'm probably at 8 months pay... Though, I only get paid 5.42 an hour and only work 10 hours a week... And I've been collecting for 2.8 years (has it really been that long?! boy, time flys!). I still get enough birthday/christmas money to help pay for cels (though I think this year I spent it all by springtime ).

I am with Glorff - my entire collection is worth about one months
income, maybe a tad less. But, I don't have near as many cels
as Glorff. Of course the difference is, that I don't always
look for bargins either. If I can find one that is fine, but usually
I never have much luck finding them. The bulk of money for my
entire collection rests in one character. The rest of my collection
seems to be less expensive.

When I started this I did not realize that there would be people that had more than they make in a whole year invested in their collection. I had always thought of this as a hobby that was done with funds that were available for pleasure, not a retirement plan with all of someones' savings

Count me in the crowd who uses their spare cash! Food, HOA fees, bills and mortgage all come first. But credits cards are deadly for cels. But nothing a little OT can't fix if I go a little crazy. I just hate thinking about my fun hobby in terms of monetary value.glorff wrote:a hobby that was done with funds that were available for pleasure, not a retirement plan with all of someones' savings

go bankrupt.
I guess I look at it if I don't have the money to pay for it, then
dont buy it. Either that, or decide what cel to sell in order to get it.
The problem is, I am down to not having many cels I am willing
to part with. Most of the ones I do are from my impulse buys. If
I could just quit doing that and stay more focused on what I really
want, I would be much better off.

whoever said it was only a months pay, let me work where you do. i get paid very little each month so more then one month. have to agree with duo on that also on not looking on how much i spend on cels. it does take the fun out of it if you sit down and realize just how much you've put out for those cels when that money could have gone to something else. so i'll not think on that.
