Hmmm...I estimate that I've spent more than year's salary on cels. Of course, birthday/christmas presents help out a lot in this respect. It's all about selective buying and selling. I've managed to keep my collection alive with my meagre salary as well as proceeds from the sale of other items (incl. cels)

Is that before or after taxes? :emb

Seriously, though, I've been collecting for a very long time, more than a decade at this point. I certainly haven't kept track of how much I paid for each item in my collection -- that would take a level of organization I only wish I had. :D

Now, if I could figure out how much my collection was worth, I suppose I could calculate the total that way... but then, how do you estimate value? Cels are extremely volatile commodities.

I think, on the whole, I'm probably happier not knowing how much I've spent...

No kidding 8O and you both have such lively collections....

I can only guess but I'd say it's maybe about 8-10 months pay for me :?

Yes, sir, and quite cheerfully so. :D Not only is it bliss, but it's also much, much easier. My tiny German grandmother, rest her soul, taught us well -- whenever she didn't want to do something, she'd pretend to have forgotten how.

So instead of actually digging back through many years of emails and receipts, I'm simply going to second your own assessment of "spent waayyyy too much, and will continue to do so."

And I'll never make guesses on how much you spent, if you never try to guess how much I have. Deal? :D

Thats a very clever trick your granmother taught you. :)

Its a deal, :handshake: we will have to come up with a secret handshake to seal the deal. :rollin Looking at the numbers makes be a bit embarassed. :emb

When I originally put the poll in I had a fifth choice that I guess is beyond the system's capacity.

5) Too embarrassed to answer

Well, thanks to this little thread, I went back and cleaned up
my spreadsheet and took items out and added items and did
some re-calculating and have come to the conclusion that I
under-estimated the value. So, unlike Glorff, my whole
collection is worth about 1-3/4 months salary. X| That includes
my coming soon cels though.

ill second that :D
you guys dont have any openings in management, do you?
maybe supervising? :P

im not really sure, i have a part time/on call job so mine would be closer to 8-10.
but that all depends on how much i work. if it was full time the number would
be closer to 3-4 months.

Since there are 2 of us adding to my gallery. I'd say it's about 4 months worth of salary invested into the collection. It would probably be more than that if not for those pesky real life Bills. I don't really feel too bad about it as I figure that's what makes me happy so what better to spend my money on?

Me too!

I'm too scared to add it up. I know I've spent way more than one month's salary...possibly three. Is S.Wolfie going to answer this one?

I would say I have spent less than a month wages on my collection but if I cant afford a cel I wont buy it.
I won't pay silly money for a cel either, I have a top limit I will pay on ANY cel and I wont go over that amount.
