How do you learn of the latest and greatest
I'm curious. Many times I think I've found a new show that's really cool only to find out it's been around for awhile and others have already started collecting artwork from it. So enlighten the sheltered few. How do you learn of the latest and greatest shows? How do you know what's brand new? I don't read manga so is that the only way?

Well I have found out about most of the new stuff from subscribing to Newtype-USA as well as checking out different listings on Anime Turnpike.

I don't follow periodicals or manga at all so my sources are basically:
1. Anime Suki Forum (esp. their "General Anime Forum") where they frequently mention upcoming anime:
http://forums.animesuki.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16
Look at all the anime in this thread in particular. There's a ton of stuff here:
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=41701
Of course the guy who started that thread mostly only posts about upcoming bishoujo/moe anime, but it's information nonetheless.
2. Moon Phases website (in Japanese):
http://www.moonphase.cc/Html/anime.html
3. For dates, number of episodes and sometimes OVA release dates, I sometimes check Anime News Network Encyclopedia:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php
4. And of course...I usually hear about the anime that will come out that are based off ren'ai games about one to seven months ahead of time from reading posts that are on the Yahoo Ren'ai Games Group Board:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/renai_games/
OFF-TOPIC:
Anyone check out these Fate/Stay Night Prologues for Fate/Stay Night anime coming out in January?

Homepage for Fate/Stay Night:
http://www.staynight.com/
[Eclipse] Fate-stay night - Curtain Raiser (h264) [D4172313].mkv (99.62 Mb)

[Eclipse] Fate-stay night - Curtain Raiser (XviD) [A1262E72].avi (99.61 Mb)

I'm really looking forward to Fate/Stay Night.
I don't expect the anime to look as good as the prologue (like most prologues), but it still should be good.

I read Keropi's messages here on BetaGoldknight wrote:How do you learn of the latest and greatest shows? How do you know what's brand new?

I know what you mean GK, new stuff is popping up all the time and it's easy to miss series if you don't do the research and keep up with the developments. Like JWR suggests, getting monthly mags is good BUT it means leaving the house and spending money! You can sit on your arse at home and do that LOL

There are some specialist anime news sites so I suggest you visit them. Made by otaku that know their stuff and like to show off their knowledge. Keropi knows best so go with his links.
Don't look on the news sections of retailer websites because even though they often have interesting info, they usually feature series they will stock (and that's not the whole range of releases) and they will entice you to buy merchandise and all that jazz.

I just wait for Kymaera to ridicule me for not seeing something yet. Then I write down the name of the series and go check it out.
Of course, by then we're talking "bit-trickle" instead of "bit-torrent" but hey, beats trying to keep up with stuff

Hey I told you that if you wanted to see anything, I can always host the new animes for you via s/l. I'm pretty up to date (though everything I watch is subbed, unlike Keropi who watches everything way before me in rawBaakay wrote:I just wait for Kymaera to ridicule me for not seeing something yet. I get updated by friends and different forums via email.

But this is a Rule of Thumb: never let an opportunity to tease Kymaera publicly slip away
