February-March 2006 New Anime

Post by Keropi »

I've noticed there are several anime debuting in February-March 2006. So I looked them up. This information is from Moonphase, Anime News Network Encyclopedia, AnimeNfo and the AnimeSuki "New Announced Anime" thread:

Bincho-tan (debuted February 3rd 2006 1:55AM )(at least six twelve-minute episode long series):
http://www.tbs.co.jp/bincho/
This is the anime featuring Alchemist's cute, tiny mascot (with charcoal strapped to the top of her head) and her friends.

REC (debuted February 3rd 2006 1:55AM)(Nine twelve-minute episodes):
http://www.tbs.co.jp/rec-aka/
This is another short episode length anime that airs in the same half-hour time slot as Bincho-tan. It's about voice acting and I hear it has a somewhat mature storyline to it. I haven't felt like sitting down and watching this yet. :?

Futari wa Precure Splash Star (debuted February 5th 2006 8:30AM ):
http://www.asahi.co.jp/precure/
This is the spinoff of "Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart".

Papillon Rose New Season (debuted February 10th 2006 3:23 AM)(six episodes):
http://www.ayaya.co.jp/
I've enjoyed this Magical Girl parody series. :D

Ergo Proxy (February 25th 2006 7:00PM)(twenty-three episodes):
http://www.ergoproxy.com/
Genre: Adventure, Science Fiction
What a strange choice of anime to air so early in the evening. I wonder if that airing time listing is an error? An special promotion aired the first episode early. I don't think its official debut is until February 25th.

Shinigami no Ballad: momo the girl god of death (March 3rd 12:30 AM)(six episodes):
http://www.momo100100.com/
Genre: Seinen, drama, fantasy.
A girl wrapped in white, her name is Momo...in her hand lies a blunt yet shiny scythe. By her side is a wingged black cat by the name of Daniel. Carrying the souls of humans, the girl's existence parallels to that of a "Death God" or "Shinigami". At the instant when this white Death God touches the the hearts of humans, the world is filled with kindness and grief...

I've heard good things about this one.

Gunbuster 2 episode 5 of 6 (airs ?March 5th 2006 11:00PM or is it March 11th 5:00PM?/OVA 5 debut date March 24th, I think):
http://www.top2.jp/
This is not NEW, but I thought I would mention it since it's listed on Moonphase's website.

Dai Mahou Touge (March 19th 2006 12:00AM):
http://www.punie.jp/
Genre: Shounen, Action, Comedy, Magic, Parody
"Tanaka Punie is a transfer student from Magical World. She is a very mischievous princess whose martial arts is better than magic. Not to mention, she aims at the conquest of the Earth. Those who resist her will be pushed by the body language, or joint-lock.

Usually, she is a bit stupid and cute girl, but actually she is a cold-blooded princess who a very brutal and heartless."

Seinen/shounen magical girl shows are becoming quite popular. :D

There's something called Erico dated for March 2006:
http://www.tbs.co.jp/erico/
But considering how little info from it there is on the net, I don't think it will debut until at least April.

To be honest, I thought there were more new anime coming out Feb-March. But two of the listings turned out to be re-runs. They're (re-)airing True Love Story and Natsuiro no Sunadokei OVA episodes. Both of those have been around for quite some time already. :sweatdrop
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The regular new anime season will debut April 1st 2006. Supposedly FIFTY new anime will debut during the April-June 2006 season. There will be much more shoujo/josei anime in it than usual.

These shoujo/josei (young women's) anime will probably debut in April-June 2006 (if the debut dates haven't changed):

Fushigi-boshi no Futago-hime Gyu! (April 2006) - shoujo
http://futagohime.jp/

Ju Oh Sei (April 2006) - shoujo, adventure, drama, science-fiction
http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASI ... 06-7476313

Kirarin Revolution (April 2006) - shoujo, drama, romance
http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3635 ... volut.html

Ohran High School Host Club (April 2006) - shoujo, comedy
http://www.ntv.co.jp/host/

Onegai My Melody ~Kuru Kuru Shuffle!~ (April 2nd 2006) - shoujo, comedy, romance,
http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/mymelody/

Princess Princess (April 2006) - shoujo, shounen-ai, comedy
http://www.pri-pri.jp/

Saiunkoku Monogatari (April 2006) - Josei, Comedy, Historical Settings, Romance
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007W ... nce&n=5174

There are one or two other anime that MIGHT be shoujo/josei. I just can't tell for sure because there's not enough info out there to verify. I mention these shoujo/josei anime to show the sheer volume of anime debuting April 1st. 8O

I STILL have no idea what the title of this anime is. Just from looking at the pictures, it appears like a shounen/seinen (semi-)magical girl show:
Looks like Dai Mahou Touge (there's hiragana under the title logo on the site you linked :D )

Thanks for all that information! Fifty new anime? 8O I haven't heard anything about any of the titles you listed, but just from looking at the front pages of the sites, Ergo Proxy and Shinigami no Ballad look interesting.

Thanks Redwolf. I corrected the listing. From "NeoSam", I located this information:

Just got done watching the 1st episode of Ergo Proxy (Jelly-Caption Subs).
This is one impressive looking show - it's seems to be living up to the hype, so far. I'm not sure about the Blade Runner
comparisons being made on certain forums and blogs that I've read, but it's definitely a very dark, melancholic, tech-noir anime.
Fun stuff, can't wait to see more. :^^:

Also watched the 1st Hellsing Ultimate OVA - pretty much a re-cap episode (ie. introduction of the main characters,
setting up the main plotline, etc.), but still kick-ass none-the-less. Always nice seeing Alucard do his thing. :evilblk

I also think I maybe falling for Integra instead of Seras this time around. There's just something about a woman w/bravado.

Thanks for the update Keropi. I find it hard to keep up to date with all the new stuff coming out, so it's interesting to see whats out there and what may be worth keeping an eye out for.
