Anyone seen Dr. Strangelove? While I understand the movie, might someone be able to explain it's subtler points. For example, I don't get why Dr. Strangelove was able to walk again when the bombs were dropped.

Hmmm....explain the mind of Stanley Kubrick. No thanks!
Interesting note: After my complete and utter disgust for the Steve Martin's new version of the Pink Panther, I decided to rewatch The Return of the Pink Panther (which, btw, I highly recommend - haven't laughed that hard in years
). Anyway, while going through the extra features on the disc, I learned that Kubrick initially wanted Sellers to play 5 roles instead of only 3 (he was supposed to play George C. Scott's as well as Slim Picken's characters).
I guess Sellers told Kubrick it was just too much, and the rest is cinematic history. What a great movie...and still so much relevance to today's administration (even if the Cold War is over).
"Heck, I wouldn't think you'd even be human beings if you didn't have some strong feelings about nuclear combat."
"I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion, and the International Communist Conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids!"

Five roles? Madness! Pure madness! It took me a while to figure out why the president seemed so familiar to me.
I got a laugh out of that line too about the nuclear combat mainly because I have no idea what nuclear combat is. Those two words don't go together. Nuclear annihilation is better.
I was required to watch this movie in college but I didn't remember much of the film so I was surprised at the bodily fluids theory and also the flouridation of water being a communist plot. All thought of by General Jack D. Ripper. Being locked up in a mine shaft for 100 years or so didn't seem like a bad idea to all those guys though once the ratio of men to women was going to be 10 to 1. Women selected for attractiveness even!
I also got the feeling that they were just making up technical stuff at the end when getting the bomb ready.
set G-force communicator destabilizer to mach 10
test inactive fader switch
send infrared multiple radar zone to port station 12
And so calm while doing it... and very slow. I guess they wanted to do it right to get those promotions.
