It's still airing in Japan. The eleventh episode aired June 29th. It's listed as being thirteen episodes long. Coincidentally I watched the sixth episode earlier this evening.
I believe this Sasami anime is based off a shounen manga. The Anime News Network entry is here:

Sasami ~ Mahou Shoujo Club is like an alternate story version of Sasami. You can read the story synopsis there. What I find cute about it is that the five main characters are voiced by seiyuu aged twelve to seventeen. They don't have the same emotional range as veteran seiyuu, but their voices make the anime feel different to me. It sounds like even their fellow classmates are voiced by young seiyuu. The twelve year old seiyuu voicing Sasami I find particularly amusing.
No one has English fansubbed this yet to my knowledge. There were a lot of anime that didn't get English fansubbed last season due to the fifty four anime that came out at the same time, college finals, graduations, getting out of school for the summer, etc. Someone said subbing anything Tenchi might be discouraged since those titles are more likely to get picked up.
I've been watching the raws and following this "Sasami ~ Mahou Shoujo Club" anime blog to get a better understanding of it:

It's not my favorite anime of the season by any stretch, but I'm finding it to be fairly fun.

hmm that looks amusing.
The art style seems refreshingly different for a Tenchi series.

I think the manga just wanted to concentrate on the five Mahou Shoujo characters. The story is really about them and how they fit into society with their powers. Washu is in every episode. I think she's a science teacher, but the reason she appears a lot because she's the sponsor of the girl's school club.sugarcels wrote:It looks very cute, but where's Tenchi, Ryoko, and Ayeka? It's not the same without them!
Mihoshi I believe, is their homeroom teacher, but she only makes brief appearances. Ryo-Ohki appears frequently though.

Question:
Did the characters Anri Misugi, Makoto Hozumi or Tsukasa Takamine appear in any previous Sammy anime?

Sorry to double post, but someone recently uploaded this "Sasami ~ Mahou Shoujo Club" commercial to You Tube.
I think it shows the five main seiyuu singing the opening song of the anime:
