Deathnote and D.Gray Man Rock!

Post by jenn-b »

I've been waiting for these two series to start and finally was able to watch the first eps this weekend. While D.Gray Man is pretty good, Deathnote is amazing!! The artwork is superb and the VAs are perfect! Of course, my sweet Tamaki is Light, but that's beside the point! If you have not yet had the chance, I highly recommend that watch them!

Deathnote was definitely excellent. They adapted it perfectly. I can't wait
for the next episode. I especially loved the scene where Light is writing in
the Deathnote...the soundtrack during that really brought out the tension.

I didn't have high expectations for D. Gray Man based on the manga preview
from Shounen Jump. I watched it and it was decent....not great, but enough
that I'll at least give it another few eps to grow on me.

Oh god, I'm about to agree with Kymaera. I *must* be sick...

I would really have had serious doubts about watching any anime at all after this if they hadn't done a superlative job with Deathnote. And I thought it was absolutely perfect. Couldn't imagine what sort of voice Ryuk might have, and as soon as he spoke it was... "oh yes, of course." :D

I can't wait for L to make his appearance...

Yes, DeathNote was adapted perfectly...I had to find time for this series even with my crazy schedule. Like Jenn, I've been patiently waiting for it. I thought it was pretty nice of them to have the first episode air in Japan on my birthday...and very glad it was subbed right away.

I can't wait for L, either!! :)

I've also dl'd D.GrayMan, but haven't watched it yet.

Well, I'm a newbie to Deathnote. I dl'd it because I'd heard so many people talk about it. I knew absolutely nothing about it. I LOVE it!!! I can't wait to see more. 8)

Wow, that first episode of DN was really very well done.
Sorry animeobsessed, haven't been able to find a subbed version of the movie yet - the raw seems to be the only one available.

I'm sorta dreading the release of any artwork from the show. It seems like it may even be more popular than Naruto.

Thanks for letting my know, transmet.

As for the artwork, I'm sure it are going to be very popular and very pricey. Since the artist is the same as Hikaru no Go I'm sure I'm going to want some... may not be able to get them, but I'll want them X|

I liked the artwork in the second episode.

The characters and backgrounds looked good.

EDIT:

Sorry, I meant D.Gray-man. I haven''t seen the second episode of Death Note yet.

That DOES explain why that one girl in the second episode of Death Note looks like Akari Fujisaki. I thought that was kind of odd the first time I seen her picture in an anime blog. :wow:

Sorry to double post, but...

As someone questioned in their anime blog concerning Death Note:

MINOR SPOILER FOR EPISODES 1-2:
Is Light considered a hero, a villain or just amoral? :D

Maybe the answer is a spoiler for futures episodes and shouldn't be said? Or is there no real answer to that question?

I think that Madhouse really captured the look and feel of the Deathnote Manga. I liked how they made the visuals interesting during extended talking scenes, Deathnote could so easilly be slowed down with talking head shots but clever design & edititng adds to the mood. I liked the soudtrack a lot. I want it already!

I haven't read D-Gray Man, but I think the anime looks interesting. I hope to keep up with both series.

Which fansub group that is doing Death Note (or other recommendations) do you prefer?

I know some are better than others, or might have a different style that's easier to read or something like that.

I'm using Live-Evil because I prefer their translations and sentence structures.

I'm using L-E, too . . . because they had the 2nd episode out before everyone else. :P

Keropi, in regards to your spoiler, it is that very ambivalence that draws me so much to DN. You're really not sure how to react, and you're forced to reevaluate your own thought process. Not much mass media is daring enough to force that upon its consumers in this day. :D
