Who is your Most Sympathetic "Third Wheel" (romantic interest with no chance) in an anime Love Triangle/Square/Pentagon?
To lessen the likelihood of spoilers I'll use this format:
Tokimeki Memorial OVA:
Miharu. She never stood a chance. :b
Onegai Teacher:
Koishi.
Marmalade Boy:
Two: Anju and Miwa.
Kakyuusei TV series:
Miyuki. Although it was partly her fault for getting into it so late. ^_^;
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien:
Haruka.
Kanon (2002):
The OTHER person at the very end. ^_^ Hopefully they'll handle her ending better than they did in the first series. I think they will. It looks like they will.
"Like the wind crying endlessly through the universe, Time carries away the names and the deeds of conquerors and commoners alike. And all that we are, all that remains, is in the memories of those who cared we came this way for a brief moment." Harlan Ellison
Kazuya-Kun he's the only one who stands by Tsukushi when all the horrible things happen and yet she ignores him for Rui and later Tsukasa even though they were both horrible to her to start with
Great question! It's kind of staggering to consider that almost every anime
series seems to have an "unrequited love" character. Does that make it a
trite stereotype in anime then? *ponders on this now*
Giant Robo
Tetsugyu will never win the heart of Gin Rei because she and Murasame are an item. It's so sad because he tries so hard.
Kimagure Orange Road. I'm not even going to write the spoiler. I hated the movie (the first one) so much that it made me dislike the entire series. That's how much that resolution of that love triangle sucked
Tatsuya, Mizuho and Ayu take part in a High School class reunion at a vacation resort involving ?eight former classmates. Mizuho gives Ayu a chrysanthemum (I think it's Mizuho's favorite flower). Ayu decides to keep the flower in her room. After a party in which Ayu became drunk, Tatsuya drives her home. After Tatsuya leaves her on her bed, he notices the flowers in her room. It was the same type of flower that was left in his school locker several years ago along with a love letter. He had always wondered who had given those to him.
Ayu and Tatsuya go on a date a few days later. Ayu notices that Tatsuya treats her a lot differently from before. At the end of the day Tatsuya tells her the story of the flowers he had received previously. She doesn't understand what he's talking about until she later remembers the flower that Mizuho gave her.
Ayu goes along with the ruse and says that she was the one that gave him the flower and love letter in High School. She's feels guilty about it, but the anime ends right there.
That was a very unsatisfying anime ending for me. What made it worse was that I liked Mizuho's character a lot more than Ayu's. So I think that Mizuho got the shaft there.
