Porcco Rosso

Post by eddiefb3 »

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Porcco Rosso is kind of the unloved Miyazaki movie.

I think its a great movie one of my favorites. However, i notice most people dont really care for it.

If i were to guess its because instead of being about a kid its about an adult. Which doesnt seem to be the usual ghibli style in their movies.

Does anyone have any feelings about this? Do you like it? If so, why? Why not?
This world is not beautiful ~ therefore it is.

You're not the only one that likes Porco Rosso :D
Then again I really do not have seen a Ghibli film that I don't like.

Why? I love the story line, the time its playing in, the planes, Gina,... :)

Behind Whisper, Porco is probably my favorite Ghibli movie. Okay, perhaps it and Totoro are tied, but I love them for different reasons. Porco has the historical factor to it, the visuals with the planes, and you can really feel the passion that Miyazaki has for the subject matter in it. I think some of the most beautiful Hisaishi Joe music is from this movie, and the ending song never fails to make me cry because it's so bittersweet.

Bonus: my husband, who is not that much of an anime watcher, lists Porco Rosso as one of his favorite movies ever.
