New One Piece voice actors announced

The new Voice actors are announced at AX07

Toei and FUNimation held a tag team joint panel for One Piece today here at Anime Expo. Series director Konosuke Uda and chief animation director Eisaku Inoue were in attendance to answer many questions, and then FUNimation followed up with some new U.S. One Piece news.

First off, a new One Piece movie will be released in the United States next year. This will be the from 'Alabaster' arc/movie - movie number eight. More details will be released soon.

The Cartoon Network will begin airing season three of One Piece soon, and at that time the voice cast will 'change over' to the new FUNi staff. All names of the characters names will remain the same, but later the uncut DVD will be released, and in those discs the names will revert back to the written names. So, for example, Zorro will be Zorro.

And finally, some English voice actor names:
Luffy: Colleen Clinkenbeard
Robin: Stephanie Young
Sanji: Eric Veil
Usop: Sonny Straight
Nami: Lucy Christian
Zoro: Christopher Sabat

Sounds very interesting to me....Lot of them from the Fullmetal Alchemist Dub.

I hope it turns out well.

I recgonize most of them from various animes.

Sonny Strait(Major Hughes-Fullmetal Alchemist, and a character from DBZ i thinkg...)

Lucy Christian(Kaname-Full Metal Panic, Wrath-Fullmetal Alchemist)

Christoper Sabat(Major Armstrong-Fullmetal Alchemist)Not sure how this will work out for Zoro.....I kind of liked the other Dubs zoro(zolo)

So a new cast? I think it's a good idea. I think that the blond guy (forgot his name) that smokes needs a new voice. His voice does not sound hot enough

I don't really watch dubs anymore, since I am studying Japanese and watching anime helps improve your listening skills, so I don't have too much of an opinion about the voice actors.

However, from the 1-2 episodes I did manage to catch on CN, I must say that I agree with you on Zoro's voice. He did seem to fit the character better than any of the other voice actors.

I think what fans are most excited about is the uncut DVD releases Funi will be doing. The dub will help bring in new fans.
