Oh I see. I guess I'm just not up on my slang.

Still, the police go after pirates too. I happen to know a police officer who's job it is to go after them. He recently arrested someone selling copied DVDs at the local bowling alleys. :)

I didn't know what that meant either.

I thought it had something to do with their old URL (yhbt.mine.nu).

And the company that should have a problem with them is Viz.
They fansub Naruto and Bleach which are both licensed by Viz.

I'll try to give a short break down on fansubbing. I don't know exactly what you know already.

Fansubbing is illegal.
The Japanese creators feel that fansubbers are literally stealing. Since they have all rights to the property, if they don't want it distributed freely, then it really shouldn't be.

Some fansubbing sites stop putting out or hosting a series when it gets licensed in the U.S. Some do not.

Some American companies, when they get the license to produce and release a title in the U.S. might actually contact a fansub group and request that they stop. If they do not, the fansub group can face a law suit. This is particularly true of any group in America. If a group outside of America is fansubbing, it depends on the local government (whether they will, or won't) to enforce the copyright laws.

That is my small understanding. I hope it helps. If anyone has a better explanation please feel free to tell us! I like to learn new things too.

Perhaps. Would you like to know? I understand. I tend to know a great deal. Tell me what subjects interest you.

There might be others.

DB was mainly fansubbing Bleach and Naruto, so the fact that THEY got nailed is not at all surprising, in light of the popularity of those series.

It was not the Japanese companies that went after them, but VIZ.

I knew something was fishy when I read the part about "Spikes." X| :hurt:

Okay, you know, I love DB for their fast Bleach releases, and they usually do a pretty good job with translation (unless I'm really missing in the more complicated speeches that I don't understand), but I kind of get the impression from their website that I would really not want to actually talk to any of them. :emb
