Japan-bound - where do I go for cels?

Post by buma »

Okay gang - I'm heading out to Japan in less than a week and wanted to know where I should go for cels? I'll be in Tokyo for like 4 days, so wanted to find out where my roaming cel fingers can go to find stuff.

The most obvious choice would be Mandarake, but wanted to see if there other places that I could easily find as well.

If you could, please share your cel-shops you've found in Tokyo! And thanks in advance!

You can also occasionally find some bargain cels in the K Books bins in Ikebukuro (the one 2 doors down from the Animate). Depends on what folks felt like selling back. Can't tell you the number of relizu I've seen dumped there....

The Shibuya Mandarake also has cels -- and there's another cel/sketch store in Nakano, where I nabbed a Jump Festa Bleach sketch set (it's up on the 3rd or 4th floor) this past August.

Actually nope. I forgot about them. There's another place, that's mostly sketches, up another floor, tucked away in a corner. I always forget about AWS since they have mostly cels from older shows that I don't collect.

Also, for general anime-related shopping, this is a good book. Though, it's a bit out of date.

That would be Anime Shop Commit, with consignments from Parthenon Production. 4th floor near Mandarake Cel Store.
