FY selection is always going to be kinda slim on auction sites... It is an old series and its hay day is more or less over... They did have a NICE hanken listed a few months back...
They sometimes have a few items that are worth bidding on...
I just hate paying 600 yen a month and only buying a few items a year on there. ~_~ oh well.
I've never used them as they got started right when I backed off auctions to take a small break. Those are excellent prices for the Fushigi Yuugi items. It's really hard to find FY cels on auctions. Usually, it's a private collector emptying out their collection. Those cels are 13 years old and getting harder by the minute to find for sale.
I've avoided the site due to the monthly fee and the fact that I'm in a buying lull as well. But, I'm lucky in that there's a couple of people I know who'd probably bid for me if I really, really wanted something.
Every once in a while I see something over there that I take note of. That's about three times during the past couple months versus about ninety to a hundred items for the same period of Yahoo Japan (saving each link).
Mostly I've been looking at the same stuff for the past two months. That's about seven to nine minutes a day so that's about seven to nine hours for the past two months of looking at mostly the same stuff I've seen before.
But at least I'm fairly thorough with my searches.
I'm not overly suprised that madoka doesn't have many FY listed ever, as they only on a rare occasion list any on YJ.
I've found a some cels at good prices for a couple other series I collect. I did manage to snag one FY item I've been wanting when Anicyo first started up. Otherwise I use my subscription to help out friend's by bidding, and then get to oogle their stuff before them.
I think of it as a dealer's site, where the cels are priced pretty appropriately on the high side. Only once have I ever gotten into a bidding war, and that was over an AMG OAV cel that seemed very underpriced (but wasn't as it may be a test cel rather than production). Overall, the inventory changes slowly, but when new stuff comes up, it's primo material. I have to swallow hard before I bid, but when I do I get high-end material that rarely comes up elsewhere. I have four items on the way now, all crowdstoppers.
The system, compared to SMJ, is slower and more prone to problems (payments not recorded, addresses made out incorrectly) but Stephen has been, in my experience, quick to respond to emails when sent from his website page and strikes me as being honest and reliable, though maintaining this and Anime Museum in spare time as a second job.
It will never be something that I check as often as YJ or use as often as SMJ, but (in truth) I do check and use it much more than eBay these days, which says something.
I've never found anything on there that's taken my fancy but I continue to check every so often just incase something special comes up. I'm glad I'm not paying the subscription fee since I haven't even used my account. ^_^;
If something did crop up I'd rather pay for someone to bid for me with their account. Plus I figure not many sellers on Anicyo take zero feedback bidders anyway so I'd most likely be screwed on my first item. XD
