http://www.anime-planet.com/ is a good site that will give you recommendations based on what anime you choose. Their synopsis' are pretty small, but they should give you a general idea.
http://myanimelist.net gives a synopsis, along with any member reviews and recommendations. Plus you can track what you've watched.
