Lot n° 369
La Belle au bois dormant (Sleeping Beauty) Studio Walt Disney, 1959. Etude préliminaire signé Eyvind Earle. Format : 13 x 27cm.

Very droolworthy stuff! Also wonderful Lady and the Tramp material!
But I'm going to have to strike oil under my crawlspace or the Euro will need to sink even lower before I'm in this game.
Star-Phoenix?? This looks like your kind of loot.

At my side, I'm not buying this year in this auction. Anyway I kindly offer (totally free of charge) for any US/UK and out of France beta board member a representative service if requested. I had been in connection last year with this auction house for my thesis researchs and keeped the contact active through mobile phone during the last months with the animation art head. Feel free to ask if required.
In my opinion the Walt Disney autograph to Maurice Bessy (I suppose offered for the Cannes festival during Fantasia representation) that was in use in several exhibition may definitively be an interesting piece:

Last year only 62% Disney's art were sold in this auction house, this year will determine if this was a "crisis" effect or if Disney active collector population is slowly going down (and consequently prices too)...
2010 is definitively a good "test" year to determine stability of animation art market

Uh ? Maybe you mistaken the iceman contact, I'm not selling art at all (not even having used ebay for years), just buying art for exhibition purpose (see "for sale" main thread for details).Akai-san wrote:@ iceman
hey, a lot of your cels are over there on auction. Pretty expensive as well! You might have more luck selling them on the bay, don't you think?
My note was a kind offer to beta board as I worked last year with this auction house and stayed connected with the animation head, especially due to the fact that the auction catalogue appears not to be accessible in english language. Additionnaly last year Disney's art were minus 30% from their estimates, consequently a possible good opportunity for Disney collectors.

hm...
but you've owned some of the cels in the auction catalog. I am talking about the anime stuff.
What about his one right here or several others: http://www.rossini.fr/html/fiche.jsp?id ... 1&aff=1&r=
About the whole auction itself...some important details are missing in the descriptions. Mostly cel numbers...backgrounds, that aren't matching, nor even from the anime series. Stuff you would expect to be noted by an auction house like that.
I think the starting prices are often way too high, but that's just me.
But it's cool you are offering a service like that anyway! Much props!

Sorry, but I must have the obligation to contradict you, the cel you link quoted (item #489) is coming from Arcadia My Youth OVA and had been reused for TV EP#1 (3:42" and 19:47") EP#2 (5:12") EP#3 (9:41") EP#11 (4:30" & 16:44" & 20:21") EP#13 (14:51") EP#17 (19:34") non matching background on all listed sequences (and unfortunally not even from this TV series). The one I own for exhibition purpose is from TV opening sequence and had been reused for TV EP#16 (18:04") EP#17 (12:25") EP#21 (0:01").
Regarding numbering aspect, basically, cel numbers often non appearing in several auctions. You may take in consideration that animation art auction have no obligation to mention details like that, any auction house provides details if requested. This auction house is a multiple sell house that arranges auctions from XIX century furnitures, through contemporary paintings, to animation art.
From an historical point of view, animation art in particular can be considering to have begin in France in this auction house october 2008 with the famous Victoria's collection Disney sale. Targeted population focus mainly on art design in general, filmmaker, original manga artist and not on numbers, as even cutted cels (mostly 1950s) reach high end prices even being damaged by scissors cut. The art essence itself express in these auction where people fall in love for a piece of their youth. Regarding prices there are not "start prices" but estimates that can be consider in general as median/end prices generally including a fork quotation. Considering the last year results there are totally valid (I even recorded the art price progression live during the auction from the room last seat row while chatting with Anime specialised press).
Coming back on service aspect, as I wrote several pages for my thesis purposeon this auction house study as being a pionneer in France and interviewed the head of animation dpt during 3 hours, this is a kind service (as wrote up totally free of charge) I'd be honored to offer to beta board members.
